I think the economics is a bit more complex. Firstly, the SA Government benefits from their own people choosing to stay in Adelaide for school holidays because of Gather Round, rather than spending their dollars outside SA. Secondly, I assume Gather Round is a hook for other events such as conventions, conferences and business meetings that wouldn't otherwise occur in Adelaide.

I was dubious about the Gather Round concept last year, but am now fully on board. My bigger problems is that the footy calendar has become too spread out with games all over the week rather than with consistent scheduling. With Easter, Gather Round and Thursday night football (and ANZAC Day and eve to come), there is too much football on non-traditional days and particularly inconsistent timeslots.

How can you have conventions and conferences if you struggle to find accommodation because the AFL has booked all the prime hotels?

This Barrosa game has to be a MFC game.

Package deals will include a picnic blanket and  Charcuterie board, as well as a shuttle from your hotel in a Range Rover.

What about the $800 bottle of Grainge?

Great job MFC. The players stuck around for a while to sign autographs and take selfies. Plenty of happy faces after that.

Thanks to the Demon Army for their tireless efforts in the sausage sizzle, much appreciated!

I bought a snag from Walking Civil War.Itwas most tasty.

  7. IWatched the 1st half on tv and attended the game in the 2nd half.Sandy dominated most of the game.Weid injured in 1st 1/4 and had to get stitches.Came back on with head bandage.Ball hardly got into the Bombers forward line so little opportunity to eat a kick.

I can't make up my mind and the only cheap seats are on the grassy hill - does anyone know if that is Hillbilly Hill at the Adelaide Oval?

I would love to see us fix up Port as I do with any oppo!

If that is the area behind the goals it’s fine.I sat there

2 years ago when we beat Port.

He certainly doesn't adopt the "what happens on the field stays on the field " code. The last time that I can recall him being interviewed post game was when he referred to Tom Bugg's hit on Callum Mills as a "dog act " which certainly didn't help Tommy at the tribunal hearing .Anyway Bugg has gone on to bigger and  brighter things .

I am interested to know what T Bugg is doing.

The problem with losing either of May/Lever is that they are our generals in defence. It's like having an on-field coach.

The problem with losing both of them is we also lose the on-field coach aspect. We're not exactly back in Frost/Oscar territory, but the cohesiveness our of defence relies on having at least one of them on the ground.

    Don’t forget General McDonald !

I think Kate Roffey's comments are fair. Hate the pies but you can't deny their supporters are very vocal and get right behind their team on gameday.

They are very vocal when a Melbourne player is knocked on the head and laying on the ground. And the Magpie supporters chant Collingwood, Collingwood, instead of showing respect for an opposition player. Like all other clubs do.Oh yer, sorry, it was only Gus.Yes let’s lower our culture to Collingwood’s.Onya Kate.
