  2. You make it sound so easy cranky franky...ever heard of there but for the grace etc? Were you ever molested? I wasn't, but I have enough empathy to see how difficult it would be to walk in the shoes Rod Owen was given.
  3. The highlight of this story for me is A: the Child abuse he suffered and B: the advice he was supposedly given by Ian Stewart and the St KIlda Board to just sign your life away, don't worry about school. This was advice reportedly given to a sixteen year old kid whose father had just died. I find the responses on this page which highlight how good he was at Melbourne a bit annoying because they miss the point about how damaged the poor kid was. It all reeks of deep Tragedy, and shows us how thin the veneer of our so-called Civilisation in our society really is. Yes, there will be people on this site who will highlight his lack of 'responsibility', but what would a sixteen year old being, who was seduced by fame and mates to 'live it up' , know about 'responsibility'?
  4. I applaud MFC recruiting Mark Williams. I would love to see him make projects of the woe and misery players like Fritsch, Jackson, Petracca, to name just a few, cause when they line up for goal. These guys are Professionals, kicking straight from set shots should be a KPI. Go on, Chocko, take these gifted dudes aside, teach them how to finish the job!

  6. No, not at all: I was not offended, believe me. I was simply pointing out - hopefully in a humorous way - the tragi-comic drama of growing up German in the Western Suburbs. Where are your folks from? I'm a keen student of history and I'm well aware of the trauma and shock and suffering which war brings. All the best.
  7. Funny the way life pans out: you now live in Adelaide and as soon as is possible we would like to move to the area between Victor Harbour and Goolwa. I work in the wine business - am semi-retired - and have been to McLaren Vale at least sixty times since 1985.
  8. How mean-spirited! We gave them Dom Tyson! Ingrates!
  9. Let's not argue Politics: though 'Competence' is not a word I'd use in association with Scomeo's Merry Men who patrol Canberra and the Opposition aisles in VIctoria.
  10. I played cricket at Central Park: Ewing. I played in the same side as Ray Baxter, ex BUlldog Centre Half Forward who Brian Roet took apart in just about his first game. ( I've probably mentioned this before: this is the main problem with LOng Tern Relationships - you just keep hearing and re-hearing the same stories.)
  11. I understand he was a Phys Ed Teacher. I saw him pushing a shopping trolley through the aisles of Coles New World Glenferrie Road, Malvern in about 1976/77...
  12. I assure you being German in the 1950's and 1960s was not much fun. We arrived in North Sunshine in JUly 1956 - my grandmother and auntie lived there - and my dear mum sent me to the local Catholic school which was full of Ukrainians, Polllacks, Italians, Dutch and Maltese kids in brand new Lederhosen.
  13. My pleasure, young man.
  14. He was 17. I was at LUNa Park that afternoon, just down the road from the JUnction Oval where he destroyed Melbourne that afternoon.
  15. People have amnesia about how quickly this virus preys on the vulnerable. It's as though they are demanding their 'freedom' to indulge without even contemplating the possible consequences. I also have about as much sympathy for the impact it's had on 'Business' as I have for surfers who complain they can't swim because ten sharks have been spotted on the beaches they surf. It's as though 'Business' is the new religion of our way of life. It ain't baby, viruses like this spare nothing and nobody...
  16. Excuse me, he's like me, a Kraut!
  17. Get quite tired of people raving about Dictator Dan. I would hate to have seen how Victoria would have fared under the alternative bunch of corrupt and inept yokels.
  18. My impressions after watching the replay is that it was a solid performance. The roving to Max Gawn is an issue and though Rivers made a mistake or two, he takes the game on and he needs to be rewarded. I have reservations about Hunt, Sparrow and Harmes. If Viney and Hibberd and Melksham pull up okay after the Bullants hitout, I'd like to see them included.

  20. Please learn how to spell
  21. That's called Toesolitis. Then there's a certain type of '....thyria'
  22. Scary that there are still klutzy/butcher surgeons out there...
  23. Right Knee replaced 17th Feb, am driving, scored 114% on sitting knee bend, hardly any pain, been walking without pain or crutches or frame since the 26th Feb. Gone cold turkey on the Opioids because of side effects, and am generally a happy chappie. Now for the left knee- I had Double Kneemonia.
  24. Or my new right knee!
