Probably the most predictable outcome ever. Had all the hallmarks of a vintage Melbourne loss at quarter time. Surprisingly not that disappointed. Would rather go out tonight than watch us lose against a well-rested Geelong next week. -
What a shock, those 3 junktime goals were the difference (not to mention our first quarter inaccuracy). Putrid performance after QT.

As soon as I heard people describing tonight as a free hit once Daniher was out, I knew Brisbane would win. Especially all the chatter around Brisbane's putrid MCG record, it had all the hallmarks of Melbourne blowing it.

To think we were 3.6 to 0.3 with about a minute left of the first quarter. Blowing this match so spectacularly is so very Melbourne.

[censored] me, we are predictable. Will not be surprised if we lose this one after the siren with a cheap Brisbane goal. Why not make it 4 for 4 cheap goals in the dying seconds 🙄

Even if we limp over the finish line tonight (we seem to be in preservation mode rather than trying to win now), Geelong will cream us if we serve up this tripe next week. Should've converted in the first and this would've been over by now.

Can't believe they're persisting with this godawful matchup to start the season, year after year. When was the last time these two teams had a close match? When was the last time both were even contenders in the same year? Compare that to proven rivalries like Geelong v Hawks, which have yielded some cracking matches regardless of ladder position. The season should start on a Friday and the first game should always be the Grand Final rematch. Have a Friday double-header if you want to make an event of it, but this Thursday matchup is a proven dud.
