  1. Nice response ? indeed the key is to just enjoy going fishing
  2. Haha, mate ideas don’t come about unless we talk about stuff. Very weak response IMO. without derailing further, look at AFL. It is bigger business, flashier and more profit driven than ever. Do we enjoy it more than our forebears in the 50s or 80s did? I doubt it. What matters and what we love is footy, but we are sold the flashiness and spectacle and we lap it up without it really adding much more to our passion for our teams.
  3. People will jump on straw men arguments against this (like ‘tell us how socialism will fix this’) but you are correct. This is nothing to do with political agenda but the kind of historically observable transition that happens in societies when our understandings and functions of labour, resources and economy change. This is exactly what is happening now. Change is the only guaranteed thing and to immediately reject alternative ideas is to worsen the shock of the change for yourself. Fetishisation of money is a great way to see it. And just like fetishes, not everybody has it. I’d wager that most of us want all of us to be able to live happy lives, and constantly striving for growth and profit has proven itself inept at achieving this.
  4. Jeez that was an entertaining match. Best result
  5. Brayshaw best game in two years, Tracc awesome, goal kicking needs work. That was strange. Felt like we were playing Melbourne. Edit sp
  6. Excellent, excellent thread. Cheers @binman, @Engorged Onion et al. Skuit I remember you pointing this out and, although it got lost in the mire of life, when Ajax had the greatest season a Dutch club has ever had a couple of years ago my reaction was ‘bloody hope Goody was looking at that.’
  7. Gee Fagan’s Lions are so impressive. They play with speed and ferocity and know each other’s games inside out, it seems. Dogs starting to look all at sea, with crowds and umps against them
  8. There’s a big difference between giving your opinion and repetitively shouting into the void.
  9. Yea hate our players being over aggressive. I’d be as aware of the hypocrisy of it was any other sub-star player in the league. As noted by pretty much everyone, it would be absolutely SHOCKING if a star player was given this edit, sarcasm. I bloody love our players being aggressive and remember all too well when that was all we wished for
  10. This. They don’t give two [censored] about anything but their fat wallets. ANB deserved a term, four weeks excessive though and going to make it hard for him to come back. The hypocrisy is just predictable and vomit inducing.
  11. Joke. Anyone know where I can send my angry letter of complaint?
  12. I’m all in dude. Woo hoo [censored].
  13. Love the idea Skuit, just spitballing some titles for what has the potential to be an deep diving and impactful podcast series: From woo to hoo How to woo a tough crowd A woo-tiful life Once were woo-riors A will to woo I hope some of these help
  14. Who knew the woo-hoo voodoo would do
  15. Agree please suspend me and I can stop torturing myself
  16. Same here mate, I am way more excited about going to spend three days on a Dutch island with my in laws than this game Edit: how good’s this weather?!
  17. Clearly @binman needs to go back to being a call-in. Love your hosting mate but it’s just not working.
  18. Amsterdam sunny and looking to be a fairly clear day with a high of around 25. Shouldn’t affect the footy too much.
  19. Mate even having to wait till 10h today. What am I meant to do? Watch Eagles v the Pies? ?
  20. What a beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning (also Europe) and a Sunday morning with the replay. Few things to add (though I’m sure it’s all been said) last week the team disposal was up a notch but Tracc’s was down despite his huge influence otherwise. This week his standard was up with most of the rest of the team and it had a big impact. I reckon the same is coming from Brayshaw. He is getting in good spots, seems to be running back harder, but had three shocking kicks in the first three qtrs. That being said, he also put that absolute bullet onto Weid’s chest in the third, which the weed unfortunately missed. It shows that Brayshaw does still have it, is still developing, and given our general resurgence I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns the corner really soon. Speaking of resurgence, I am just so proud of the culture at the club. Of note are some of the little connections between certain players after goals or when on the bench. I am loving the Harley and Kozzie big and little brother thing that is going on. Harl’s just seems so proud of Koz every time he does anything, but Bennell also has a maturity about him that I never saw in his previous iterations at the suns and freo. I reckon he, as well as Uncle Nev, are working hard to keep kozzie in line and on track to fulfill his immense potential. Just stoked. Love the winning feeling and may the Hawks be in for six decades of let down and mediocrity.
  21. Indeed the same can be said as regards the context of ‘canon law’ and ‘bugger’
  22. I think you’re going for ‘lethargic.’ Laconic denotes Lacedaemonians, being Spartans, who were known for their verbal brevity. edit: sp
  23. The context of racism against historically diminished people is different to racism against people of European heritage, just because of the nature of historical events. The children of perpetrators do not inherit the crime. The children of victims do inherit the suffering. Punkt.
