Long-time reader, first-time contributor. (I was on Demonology years back and always appreciated the thoughts of much more knowledgeable, perceptive and insightful Demons supporters than me.)

I appreciate that anyone who makes it to this level, let alone plays dozens or hundreds of games, is an exceptional footballer. But everything is relative...

Lachie Hunter. What's going on there? What do Goodwin and the decision makers like about him? I know he may not play this week, but in the recent press conference, Goodwin made it sound like he desperately wanted him in the team as soon as possible.

Is there something he does really well that isn't obvious to a person (me) with (at best) a mediocre understanding of the nuances of modern football? I ask because from what I see, the "brilliant footy IQ" we heard about at the time he was recruited, has never materialised. I don't remember it being there at the Bulldogs, to be honest. I don't see him as a particularly good kick (even over 25 to 30 metres), he's not a robust player, he doesn't kick many goals, he seems to take players on at the most inopportune times and the underground handball is almost like a tic.

I see last year he was in the top 150 in the league for score involvements (behind only Petracca, Pickett, Viney, Neal Bullen and Chandler). Is it as simple as that? Despite the apparent sloppiness, is he in fact a very effective link player?

Or is he just a known quantity benefiting from a reasonably conservative football department? Is it simply a case of better the devil you know than a debutant or five-gamer?

The thing for me is that they've decides to bring him in this week, when from all reports he was disinterested and poor at Casey last week

  2. TMac has said recently in interviews that his ankle and foot injuries have robbed him of the agility needed to play forward, but he can still manage to play back. I don't think we'll see him swing forward anytime soon unless we get injuries in-game

  3. Pretty easy, if Adelaide wants it one of their team needs to bookend it. Port or Adelaide play the first game and the last game, with all of the short turnaround that comes with it.

Where has this idea that Brayshaw is not slotting straight back into the midfield come from?

I assume it's due to his concussion, but the issue with Gus is not where he plays but how he plays. You only have to watch his efforts on the wing in the GF, pushing back in to packs and getting smashed, to know that he'll put his body (and head) on the line wherever he plays

  5. "Whilst there was $0.5m in legal proceedings expenses during the year, the net cost after recoveries is $0.1m. It is regrettable that the Club is required to incur this expenditure."

"Whilst the Club has been unable to achieve its aim of commencing construction on a new Melbourne home base facility during the strategic period, all involved in the Club are working tirelessly to deliver the vision of a world class primary facility that can be enjoyed by players, staff and supporters, and are confident this vision will be realised in the term of the Club’s next Strategic Plan. We understand the delay
is frustrating for players, staff, supporters and your Board, however it is a long-term project and in order to deliver the world class facilities we want we can only move at the speed determined by our key project partners and State Government given our requirement for land and funding.
The Club is continuing to work closely with the Victorian State Government on our primary home base, and as advised at last year’s Annual General Meeting this includes opportunities within the Caulfield
    Racecourse."

    And another from left field.

If we are keen on Reid and Windsor, could we give all our picks and future 1 to WC, who give their F1 for 7 and GWS F1 and we get 1 and 7 and get Reid and Windsor and then we delist say Woey and Laurie if they are agreeable, who go to WC in Pre Season Draft and/or Supplemental draft. Woey goes home and is probably a certainty for a rebuilding WC and Laurie gets games. Jed Adams or even Spargo could come into the conversation.

That would mean for example we get 1 and 7.

WC get 6, 11, 42, 78 and MFC F1 and GWS F1 and say Woey and Laurie, who would both be starting 23 for WC immediately. 6 appears certain to get Curtin, a future Captain by all accounts.

GWS give 7 and F1 and get WC F1 which could be absolute gold.

We get Reid and Windsor, or whoever is left.

    Am I missing something?

Yeah. 1, it's draft tampering. You can't delist guys just so another team can pick them up for draft picks. That's what the trade period is for, and there's no way the AFL will let it through.

2, no way do we get 1 and 7 for 6, 11, 42 and our F1. And WC won't give up 1 and their future first for 6, 11 and what are likely to be 2 other late first round picks next year.

    3, Woey is a father/son. You don't do that to F/S picks
