  1. I agree. Leave him alone. If Mark got a job as a coach at a more successful club, I have no doubt he would still be coaching at AFL level. He had to make some tough calls with our list and turn over quite a lot of players. It didn't help that Jesse Hogan was ineligible to play when we were screaming out for a forward line. The media basically treated him like a pedophile before he was sacked. He was clearly not ready to take on a club with so many problems, but was clearly highly rated before coming to the Dees, so good luck to him at the Bombers.
  2. I just saw it on channel 9 news commercial during the Bond film! Went straight to Demonland. A good get for the club if it goes ahead.
  3. I read that he has a confidence problem with his set shots, so he tends to shank it a bit. It was in a write up on Knightmare's 2014 Phantom Draft: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/knightmares-2014-phantom-draft.1060197/ Set shot goalkicking – McCartin’s conversion from set shots is below average. He is prone to shanking his set shot attempts and can lose confidence in his set shot goalkicking. It seems to be a really mental thing for him but something given his excellent field kicking I feel can improve to a strong standard. McCartin’s tendency when he starts to lose confidence in his set shot goalkicking is he often will either elect to find a target in better position or will play on or attempt a snap shot at goal, and while I have no issue with this tendency my hope would be that he can get his set shot goalkicking up to a standard where he does not experience that same waver in confidence he seems to experience at the present time and has experienced in years past.
  4. I would be happy with either Brayshaw and McCartin/Petracca/Wright/Lever. But I do see the upside in McCartin. Most forwards take a few years to develop, but he should be good to go from round 1 2015. He has been compared to Brendan Fevola (Hope they are talking about his footy!) I am concerned with his kicking accuracy, but I am sure he can get that fixed up if has help from Hogan (and not Dawes!).
  5. I'd love to see this pick used to pickup pint-sized Caleb Daniel if he is still there. Caleb Daniel - 2014 AFL Draft Prospect Highlights (YouTube)
  6. Totally agree. I think Paul Roos would be brutally honest at where Tyler would fit on our list and what areas he would need to improve to get a game. With two pre-seasons under his belt he could be a great addition to our squad in the Simon Goodwin era.
  7. He is going to be in this years draft. He wasn't nominated as a father son selection.
  8. With the Saints forcing our hand on the Frost/pick 23 decision, what does anyone think about using one of those later picks (40 or 53) for a medium midfielder by the name of Tyler Roos?
  9. As dirty as I am that he chose not to play for us, at least coming out of retirement has allowed us to get the Prince.
  10. Does anyone else think we should make a play for Membry? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UyxO_RSmrE A play like that with pick 23 could force the Saints into the draft without many forward options (especially if Stanly is traded to the Cattery). It may make them go for one of the big forwards in this draft (McCartin or Wright) leaving Brayshaw and Petracca?
  11. What about Pick 2, 3 and 12 (Jack Trengrove to Richmond trade) to Adelaide for... Patrick Dangerfield, Jarryd Lyons and their second round pick (31) Pick 31 is then traded to GWS for Sam Frost. This seems to a fair trade for both sides. Personally I would like to see the Dee's keep Trenners and take picks 2,3 and 23 into the draft but this seems the logical way to get a gun and two other emerging players that have been in the system for a couple years.
  12. Is he one of the Essendon players issued with show-cause notices?
  13. They might have thought by playing him it would decrease his trade value. He does have fringe player written all over him, but could be a handy rookie for some clubs.
  14. Surprised he didn't get a game late in the season. He was in pretty good form at Casey in the last half of the year. If they can't find a trade for him, I wouldn't be surprised if we rookie draft him back in like Neville Jetta last year.
  15. Maia quit to return to New Zealand not too long ago. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-08-22/roos-praises-westrupps-courage
  16. Definitely some encouraging signs. The Dees are finally not over-focusing on their defence. Neil Craig has really brought out some attack in this young side. While I would like to see Couch and Magner get more games to strengthen the midfield, our current side is built for speed. Once they start to get some more confidence and games in them, they will be hard to match.
