  1. I saw it and thought it was pretty good. Funny that the Lions didn't get 'equal time'.
  2. Welcome aboard Cam Mooney.
  3. Seems Salem might have been on Cameron. I Smith fails I'd give Bowser a crack.
  4. Last round 1987 by the length of the straight (and I was there as a 13 yo in 1964).
  5. Agree. As my mate, a very astute football observer says, Hibbo is 'a one trick pony'. He was poor against the Giants (3 disposals) and his fumbles against both Dogs and Hawks cost us dearly IMO. I'm thinking either JJ or Nate as medi-sub. JJ having more speed than Nate would be my pick,
  6. Ooooooo raaaa..tsio
  7. I too, was at that game as part of the cheer squad, and remember that goal as though it was yesterday.
  8. None more than RDB. It was fantastic to see the shots of him in the stand this year. Alas, none if we do make the big dance this year.
  9. My favourite player in the early sixties. I'm thinking Clint may be a tad effusive.
  10. I get the impression that the AFL want to complete the season ASAP and, as such there'll be no bye. I reckon all 5 remaining matches (after this weekend) will be played at Optus. Same quarantine conditions for all teams. Neutral ground for all teams is a bonus.
  11. After 7 years in the cheer squad, in 1970 I started uni and didn't get back to going to games until 1984, partly because I'd moved to the Surfcoast. I met Mick Pierce who worked as a ski instructor at Buller. He informed me that he was one of the four (? maybe two) holding up the run through for the '64 GF. I think Mick was taller than the run through.
  12. There was a passage in the last quarter I think, possibly directly after Lever had punched the ball over the boundary, with Lever and May were both in the frame, both pointing and telling other defenders where to position themselves. As good as Salem, Tomlinson, Petty etc are, you need talented, experienced leaders who are vocal. Jordan Lewis played a similar role in his short stint with us.
  13. I reported elsewhere that Jayden had planned to try a run last Tuesday. I (and he) was wrong. He was aiming to go for a run today.
  14. I was 13 and seated in the lower section of the old Northern stand. Ray Gabelich took his three bounces right in front of me. I'd joined the cheer squad 2 years earlier. Great memories with MT as president. Some of us were responsible for the banners. Mine was The Never Say Die Demons. I'd get the first train (4:15am) from Parkdale, or sleep at the ground. We never slept at Vic Park or Windy Hill (too dangerous). When the Saints moved to Linton Street we made a bonfire from some of the pickets we pulled off the new fence. The Saints cheer squad invited us to join them for the night in the St Johns Ambulance room. Quite an eyeopener for a young boy with the stretchers getting quite a workout with Saints and Dees supporters fraternising. Hassa Mann was my favourite player and I had a banner with his name on it. Great memories. PS a shout out to Dobbo and Ken Saw
  15. You might want to view (again?) Open Mike featuring Robbie on Youtube. Humble is an understatement.
  16. We can only hope that Clarry achieves two awards that Robbie didn't - a premiership medal and a Brownlow medal. BTW I'll go to my grave with memories of two of my idols, RDB and Robbie.
  17. Chook is correct. I don't want to derail this thread, but in case you haven't seen this you'll quickly see both Clarry and Robbie are/were elite in different ways.
  18. Is Goodwin the right guy? Hell yeah.
  19. Trac being interviewed on Ch 7. In tears.
  20. No Eagles defence
  21. Liions in.
  22. Last Lion's goal increased their percentage by 0.4 in case you missed it.
  23. Another Lion's goal and Dogs out (or very close)
  24. Jayden Hunt is progressing far quicker than anticipated and will commence running tomorrow.
