New Demon logo.

I heard that the club want's to reintroduce one of the older demon logo's from the 60's. I was around then but I can't remember much what it looked like. I have had a problem with all of the demon logos that have been paraded around in the past few decades. All look so bland and wimpy with absolutely no charisma, personality and easily forgettable. Kind of reflect the mediocrity of the past few decades. I have read that many in the club and marketing guru's have been uncomfortable having such a sinister entity as a club logo as it might scare families, religious types and such and be a bad influence on children.

In many countries the demon logo is not something that needs to be toned down or hidden. In Latin America, the demon figure is used as a decoration on Christmas trees and features prominently in many social events like carnivals and the like despite people being far more religious than us.

I think our demon logo should be somewhat more imposing and exhibit a hint of wickedness but perhaps a little cartoonish and humorous so not to scare the kids. Should have a Mardi Gras type personality. Should be strong, erotically masculine and to look more like Mark Jamar rather than like Travis Johnstone as some of the older ones remind me of.

Any other opinions?

Can we rastify it by 20 per cent or so?

You're not asking for much...

Hopefully it looks something like the demon in my avatar. However, Schwabby has already stated it is not this demon, but a demon used in the 60's. If anyone here, particularly the elder statesmen have any material from the 1960's, perhaps they could share it with us. I know in many of the books the club have put out there are different Demon Emblems photographed.

Well yours is one of the better ones. But I don't like the magpie legged proportions and face looks a little bland.

I think if you saw the face in detail you may retract that. I will post the larger images..Edit: I am unable to upload images from my work computer to imageshack.

However, I did come across this in my collection... demons22.jpg

This is from the 60's

Redleg your Avatar came from the Twistie Packets from the sixties, i remember them well, although the cards were always "cheese yellow" by the time they came out of the pack.

I love that demon, probably because it was the first one i knew. B)

Nice bit of nostalgia WYL. Thanks for the info. I have also seen this demon on Annual Reports from the 1960's as well as the on Players Balls (dont let your minds slip to the gutter) panphlets from the same era. However, many people refer to this Demon as the '1933 Demon', so I am not really sure where it originated. I was certain this was the one the Club was going to re-introduce, but Schwabb as stated it is not. He may be protecting its release perhaps???

I think the older 1933 Demon you speak of was the Single colour version (light Red) whereas the 1960's version was multi coloured as in your Avatar & the Twisties Packs. i wish i still had those old old Footy Cards still!!!

Your Avatar has Style.

I also loved the 70's China men Demon, but that was for more Humorous reasons!

Agree...If what you are saying is true Re: colour, then maybe this is the demon that is being reintroduced. I have also notice (paying way too much attention0 that the stance of the 1933 demon is reverse from the 60's style. Maybe Cam is being cryptic. haha

I am only guessing, but i would love to see the 1960's Colour Demon as our Logo going forward, with maybe slightly Thicker legs!!! That Avatar needs a good Feed!! B)

Does anyone have an example of the 33 demon to show? My memory has been jolted I now do remember the twistees packets and the stained cards.

This is the one i had in mind, compared to the 1960's Twisties version.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
