very concerned about new clubs

Recommended Posts

For 2 weeks i have been thinking of this

I am very concerned about the consequences of the two new clubs being bought into the league. Why did our president vote unanomously for there inclusion? What benefit is in it for The Demons, apart from $$-that's all it can be. I mean look at the storm 2 flags in 10 years, no wonder northern state peole hate them. These clubs are being set up to be successfull. If Melbourne died the AFL would not care.

WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR THE NEW CLUBS MR GARDINER?? I want to know

New clubs = more sponsorship = large TV rights = more money for AFL clubs.

I mean seriously, who wouldn't vote for their inclusion?

ALLLL about the $$$. They want more clubs, which means more games and more $$$$. This should protect us if anything.

Sure, the comp gets tighter, drafts get harder. But if it means keeping the club alive via more funds being pumped into the clubs, I am all for it.

Plus, you miss one valuable point of bringing in 2 new teams. That is 2 more teams we all get to hate with a passion. Get your hate on!!!

More sponsorship?? Not down in victoria it wouldn't, only going to make $$ tighter to find i believe. I don't want to support a "basket case" that is propped up by Rich soulless clubs until they get sick of us. I want Melbourne to get Strong and feared by the Entire Comp. And i see it as harder to do with 18 Teams that's all

the storm have had the success they have had not because of money injected but because they are a damn good organization, who don't tolerate crap from the players. not to mention their outstanding recruiting record. think about the A-grade players who have left or are leaving, Kimmorley, Bell, Orford, falou etc........yet the storm tell them to go forth and multiply if they want to leave with the knowledge they will always find the next one.

we need to get our [censored] together and start getting some real talent into our side and develop them properly. we get it together and the success will come......no matter how many sides are in the comp.

I agree with you about the Storm, but they were always set up to be successfull. And they don't have a draft so Deals can be made. But yeah good luck to them.

Its the 2 new clubs who are going to dominate the draft of the AFL for the next 5-6 years that i am worried about, I know we gotta get Tough and take no shite, but how are we going to do it? That bloody Round 22 Game last year is going to haunt us for years i fear.

We must all be aware of it and work to address it..

lets look at it this way...... we make the most of the draft this year with one early pick and 2 in the high teens (not too shabby), take a decent player in the pre-season draft (cousins maybe?), then win 8 or so games next year and take the priority pick out of the picture anyway.

Its a good thought but i don't know whether we would get to 8 Games next year the way the team is set up, and for membership reasons that is what we need. The Eagles might just get in the way this year. Its so wierd talking on this level after round 6, but it's the only way we can get strong that i can see

They will be 2 more sides we wont draw crodes against in Melbourne.

I Pretty much fear the AFL will force out a merger and give Tassie a team they have somuch control when it comes to keeping you viable or not.. Our finances arent worse then the Bulldogs who receive what 1.3 million more ASD each year then us.. but no1 talks about them, they had to have a membership drive despite sitting at 4-0

Its all about Melb and North being the basketcases in the print media, and as some of the journalists are spoon fed, pretty sure some exec at AFL house has this scenario earmarked...

The Bullies have that new Facility being built underwritten by the Federal Govt so sadly i think they are safe at this point, but there membership is a worry

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
