Brad Green - no impact in the midfield

Featured Replies

Green gets plenty of (mainly) easy possessions but has no impact on a game anymore.

A few years ago he was a damaging forward - would lead and mark strongly, kick beautifully for goal and inspire the team with his enthusiasm and celebrations (after kicking a goal).

Why not put him back where he plays best - FP or HFF.

I stopped reading when you said "he was a damaging forward".

Daniher made the mistake of playing him too far up the ground instead of out of the goal square. You can't force a position on a player, 8 years after they've been playing somewhere else. He played a handful of great games in the forward line, but never played there enough to justify that statement.

He once had the best set-shot for goal in the competition. When you don't get enough in-game practice for a skill like that, you lose it. He has. Last year he wasn't as accurate as seasons before and this year I think he's had maybe 3 set-shots. I say play him deep in the backline. He's a steady player that can hit a target, but he's not hard enough to play midfield, not smart enough to play wing. Give him a medium-sized opposition forward each week and let him lead it out of the backline I say. Atleast then it will get his lack of urgency and clangers out of the corridor.

Both he and Dunn were resting in the square at various points during the game.

We looked considerably more dangerous with them there than Neita, Robbo, or Jamar.
