McNamara needs to play instead of Miller in defense. He showed so much against Geelong in the NAB cup. I was so impressed with his performance. Martin needs to play too. These blokes are the future.

I think Martin sooner than later.

The guy really impressed me against Geelong, could really be worth a shot because simply put we have noone down back other than Rivers that are solid and its been so long that rivers has not played i forget how he played lol

Yes, I thought he played well too....probably waiting for Round 4 so press headlines can read:

the boy is 17...i am all for fast tracking development, ala frawley. but i would like to see mcnamara, martin, marric and cheney (and still possibly morton) pick up their game in the twos and then slowly be worked into AFL standard players.

in the twos and then slowly be worked into AFL standard players.

A largely unsuccessful venture this football club has undertaken over the past five years.

ahh yes

prepare for the

MAC ATTACK !!

fries with that ???

This thread is a clear indication that things have gone too far, now we all calling for untried rookies. Franklin, Roughead and Boyle will create immense problems for all teams this year (not to mention Mitch Thorp and Beau Dowler if they ever get in). No one on our list outside of Rivers would have played any better as a key backman on Sunday.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?
