QUOTE(rusty_corner @ Mar 23 2008, 08:00 PM) Just got back from the gameQuote of the day:"Bring on the Seniors!!!"The great SKYHOOKS classic was ringing in my ears all day." I'm Living in the 70's"Today was like the entire decade in the 70's I truly thought these times would never reappear, but here we go again.

This Bump is really sad. 5 years on & I can still relate our 2013 efforts to SKYHOOKS song. HORROR MOVIE "shocking me right outa my brain". I gotta grab another green can to numb the pain

There was not one bit of hope or positive to come out of the game..... We as a side need 3 -4 years to bottom out before we go anywhere.....

Ha ha ha ha!

Weve been bottoming out for 10 years.

The next step is oblivion.

There needs to be some perspective given here as well though the perspective isn't a good one.
When Melbourne got brained by the Hawks in round 1 of 2008, the Hawks would go on to win the flag against one of the best teams of the last 20 years. Port, while good today, will not approach anything quite like that.
What does that say about us?
I need to get my anger out tonight. I am not touching anything footy related for the next week so I need to vent as much as I can tonight.

to the 22 players who represented Melbourne today for serving up the most insipid uninspiring, embarrising type of Rnd 1 football ever in the AFL... you are all a disgrace.. just pathetic.. no heart...no hope..

Except for Jack Viney and Jack Grimes

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
