Demons vs Cats

Pretty good summary YM. The tackling is symptomatic of a team of kids, but even so, it's pretty awful.

Who played on Hawkins?

Who didn't play on Johnson?

All today proves is what we already know; if we have the injuries we had last year, which incidentally is pretty much everyone who missed today (Anyone else concerned?) we will struggle to make the finals!

This is the first time in years I've felt we haven't had depth. A lot of talented but extremely inexperienced youngsters fighting it out against easily the best team in the country.

I do think in 3 years time, our depth will be sensational.

Couldn't tell you who played on Hawkins because he never got near it. Couldn't tell you who didn't play on Johnson because they never got near HIM.

Much of our injury list is a week or two away. Precautionary really.

Shane Valenti - gun

Stef Martin - potential to be a very good, mobile, smart key defender

Aussie - not too bad

Garland - has improved a lot since last year

Buckley - will give us what we have lacked for years. Speed through the midfield

Meesen - will play 22 games this year

McNamara - showed a bit, great stuff for a 17 year old

Sylvia - was a force in the 3rd quarter. This is his year

Jones - the usual great game

Every senior player that played thats not named James McDonald - all complete rubbish (White, Yze, Green, Holland)

I've barracked for the Dees for 40 years and pay for premier membership every year.

I travel interstate at leat 3 times every year. I go to ever Club function (B&Fs, the lot).

I live in Torquay and have to put up with the crap I read about the Handbaggers every day.

But I'll tell you all something for nothing - being equal favourites for the wooden spoon is dead right,

We were flogged today by a team missing their best 4 - Ablett, Scarlett, Chapman and Harley.

Three winners today only - Bell, Meesan and Buckley.

The rest were crap. Don't be conned by what other posters might say.

How Yze can be elected leader is beyond me. He's only interested in kicking 'miracle' goals'.

We were made to look stupid today and if you believe any different you're living in gaga land.

You forgot to mention that we were missing 15 of our best 25, plus our 2 first round draft choices. If you thought that we would be competitive with the side we had, you are delusional.

And by the way, Harley is not in the Cats best 10, let alone top 4.

what about the abc website..get a live call steaming

godders would of been useful on johnson

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
