Andrew Embley to Carlton...

Talking to a few Carlton members today, they have word that Embley is as good as done to joining Carlton.. They recon they waiting on Richmond to move on someone, and Embley will tell West Coast his going... But its Carlton or stay an eagle in his eye.. Massive lost for West Coast if true.. Cousins, Judd, Embley... Massive gain for Carlton.. Money talks I guess

I haven't heard anything about him being out of contract at all.

Wow. If this is true, then we could even expect the West Coast Eagles to tumble out of the Eight next year and - even more amazingly - Carlton to re-enter it. Who would have guessed that at the start of this year? Not me, that's for sure.

I was also talking to some Carlton people today and FWIW they were adamant that Chris Judd agreed to join the Blues well before he announced he was leaving West Coast i.e. that the whole process of talking to other clubs and nominating his priorities was all a sham. The same people said Embley was a chance if they could fit him under the salary cap and they were pretty confident that this could be done (in Carlton's own inimitable way  ).

embly is contracted to the eagles next year.

he cannot quit the eagles and join carlton unless WCE release him from his contract, which they will NOT do.

this is a non-issue, because it cannot happen realistically. firstly bc its impossible to quit when ur contracted if ur club will not release you, besides which richmond arent that stupid and will just wait till all players nominate for the PSD, and will take the best available.

I stand to be corrected, but like Sylvinator I was given to believe that Embley is contracted and can't walk. He won't be released - unless Fonz bends them over - which he won't. Wishful thinking on the behalf of many Carlton supporters.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
