I agree with this. He looks fantastic. A lot of Xavier Lindsay about him in that heโ€™s quick, clean and tough. Didnโ€™t play champs, not super prolific and a type that gets lost in the mix a bit, but looks to have some real AFL traits to him.

Jared Polec clone IMO.

Dovatson has to be a top 5 talent. He is exactly what Melbourne needs. Quick, good by foot, tenacious and superb footy smarts. He will be better than Watson as he has more potential to play a multitude of positions including off half back. He is also taller and stronger with a solid core. Will be a steal at pick 7 or 8.

If we think Schubert is the real deal we should take him, the fact we have a big collection of not very good talls doesn't mean we don't need a good one. But I suspect we won't quite be convinced by Schubert.

I do think Marsh would be strongly considered to take over from Fritsch. He looks a big time talent even if the consistency is lacking in his game.

i think i prefer NHH to Marsh, he seems to be a really good one touch player at ground level, the one player in our range that i have zero read on is probably cummings, i just assume he's a HB like Isaac cumming and need to actually go and watch some more vision of how he fits in,

i think i'm coming around to the idea that CDT is going to slide

  1. Duursma -WCE

  2. Uwland matched GCS

  3. Robey - WCE

  4. Grjl -Rich

  5. patterson - matched GCS

  6. annable matched Bris

  7. CDT - Rich

  8. xav taylor - ess

  9. dean matched carl

  10. sharp - ess

still leaves us with all the same names and no idea where we're looking

@ChaserJ is usually well educated in draft prospects. Any thoughts on who we should select here?

I usually watch a fair bit of junior footy but didn't see nearly as much as I would have liked this year.

Thoughts on his kicking?

Dan says ๐Ÿ—ฃ Melbourne has lacked marking options up forward for several years and Schubert has the stickiest hands in the business along with being super athletic. The former state basketball representative only fully committed to footy this year and should develop into a formidable forward-ruck option for the Dees into the future. He dominated the national championships with 10 goals, where his contested marking and mobility stood out.ย

Dan says ๐Ÿ—ฃ Blind Freddy can see that Melbourne has struggled with their ball movement over the years. Lindsay is the best kick in the draft, with his left-foot laser hitting targets all over the ground this year. The ultra-professional prospect is capable of playing right away at the Dees off halfback and is a big watch for SuperCoach in 2026.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
