Positves Vs Negatives

hmmm wat can we take out of tonights game? very little i must say...

One major positive i saw, and have not seen much all year ! the bump and attack on the man.... welcome back byron and bizzel.... u know wat bizzels bump may not have resulted us in gettin the balll and if it wasnt for a free kick it would have been a richmond goal... but i still would have been cheering really good to see some good solid hits

Negatives... this year every game melbourne are gettin chased down and tackled, and its the same offenders..... Bate big time, white and somtimes jones and even brock.....

Davey where has ur pressure gone? We need some big chases team lifting ones.... not being on the end of them, week in week out.

if anyone else has any please add...

and dont say the whole game was a negative coz we already know that

Positives.

well at least we're more than half way though...less than 50% of this season left to suffer

umm...we're not bottom..( yet !! )

without being cynical... I really dont see anything that you take away from tonight.

Bizzell was a positive full stop.

He keeps proving most people here wrong.

The Show Bizz kid is an absolute gun and i never wanted him out of the team in the first place..... A waste of 2 years in no mans land..

Another example of poor coaching...

Need Rivers back despretley.

Mclean should be captain next year.

bate will be superstart

Sylvia might just be ready to take off

Jonsey is a gun

Ricky Bobby can play

And all we reinforced tonight was

Daniher is [censored]

Bruce is the most overated player in the comp

Cant carry blokes who are slow and cant kick

We still cant select a balanced 22. Had not 1 big guy in our forward line.....

Although harsh on Bate, it certainly seems that Daniher is starting to lose the players.

Brock Mclean most overrated footballer in the world

And you were doing so well....

Bruce is not the most over-rated footballer in the land. But he is among the top few...

Brock McLean is not over-rated. He's a demon. No-one knows who he is. Only among MFCsupporters is he considered a future star. And they've been given every right to do so. When he plays well, we win.

We have seen Bruce kick 7 in a match. He's played whole seasons before where he's been among our most damaging players, regardless of the touches he got. This year he's been picking up more possessions than ever, yet his damage has almost vanished. Blame his kick if you want, blame his leadership, blame his hardness... do whatever you like... but his effectiveness as a player is nowhere near what it has been in the past.

Some points to consider, BB:

- You questioned another player because a darling of yours (going by your screen name) has been fairly and justifiably criticised.

- You've done it to a player that is among the LEAST to blame for our current crisis. He's played less than half the games he could have this year, and he was one of the biggest reasons we're not 16th, if not the biggest.

- What little credibility you create by making a sensible post evapourates when you resort to schoolyard [censored]-for-tat like this.

- No-one on their right mind could possibly take your last post seriously.

- Bruce has been ok in patches this year, and is marked firmly but fairly by all but you. Deal with it.

The whole team is over rated. Bruce, Brock, Davey, the bloody lot of em'. Brock's got potential for sure, but Bruce??!! The game is called football. Foot and Ball. If you can't kick a ball anywhere near the sticks in this game, then what bloody use are you? Yeah, yeah, I'll get nothing but condemnation for you deluded fanatics, but look at the board. We're second bottom. We just got mawled by a stinker of a team. And I ain't surprised. When you accept the fact that we suck, defeat actually doesn't hurt as much. Victories and good performances are nothing but flash in the pans with this line up.

positives. bizz!

negatives........ still play players who cant kick (godfrey) or cant hit a target (ward)

still cant fix players who are struggling with their kicking this year (jones, bruce)

still dont have a plan b and a questionable plan a

everyone pretty much played [censored]!

no intesity

no heart

no desire

no 1%ers

no blocks for mates

no big chases or tackles

there must have been radiation in the centre of the ground, because we avoided it at all cost

my fingers hurt from all the posting ive been doing

Yep that unfortunately sums up this very sad situation pretty well.....

Well done C84, but these are the ones that give me the heeby jeebies since they are regarded as the "team" things to do.

They aren't necessarily spectacular and probably won't earn you a stat, but they are the things you do for your team mates, and the more you do them the better the team will perform, as a whole unit and not as individuals. Skill errors are annoying as hell but they can be worked on and improved (in theory) like any skill, but it is the failure to take care of your team mates and help them out - the "team" (for want of a better or at least another word) orientated things that make me want to cry because these show our mental application and attitude, to eachother and the club, on the field and to me it begins and ends with these.

Just my opinion  !!!

Positive - We won't have to hear the crap about "mathematical possibilities" or "still aiming for finals" or "Daniher should be given life tenure to coach Melbourne" for at least another week.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
