i cant see any of them playing this year tbh. bartrams time frame just keeps getting pushed back and back. moloney has op and i dont think he will be right, and i reckon rivers is in a real spot of bother with that lower back problem...

There's no point in risking any of them, give them all as much time as needed to recover.

Whoopee.........we get to shape the finals!!!!!

Being there would have been nicer!!!!!!!

hopefully we screw adelaide and sydneys chances........that'd be sweet. good to see the cats on top . obviously i prefer vic teams over interstate cept collingwood

I'd rather any club over the filth.

My niece can only say the word hate, when its used in a sentence about Collingwood.

I heard him say all that on SEN on Friday, and i agree, we will shape the 8 in a big way, but he got one thing wrong.

We lost to 4 of the 5, not all 5.

I am not sure where he gets his information re Bartram, Maloney and Rivers being out for the rest of the season.

From what I understand, Bartram has had some complications with his knee, and is unlikely to play again this year.

Thanks Jaded for that info. Shame! Just another lousy setback for our troops.

Agree we want to be in the finals but it doesn't seem to be our destiny this year. However I am hoping for some minor joy along the way.

Don't forget people, there is a silver lining for every dark cloud that hangs above us. 2007 is not our year, so what, it never was going to be with so many young & inexperienced key players to our engine room. '08 was allways a most likelier year as long as we could get more games & experience into players like Mclean, Sylvia, Jones, Bate, Dunn, Pettard, Davey, Bell, Jamar & PJ.

Well guess whats happening, their growing & accepting some leadership as welll.

Our injury list has helped us more towards our next GF appearance than anything else.

Play the kids & forget about ego & '07 ladder position, build our future now!

As much as we will miss Rivers, Moloney and Bartram, every club has its injuries and as long as we don't have any more major injuries we can at least put on a strong showing and save someface from a shyzenhaus year so far. Also, other players like Petterd, Frawley and dare I say Newton will get opportunitiesey might not have otherwise had this year which will hold them in good stead in 2008.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
