There has been so much innuendon and rumour-mongering about Micheal Newton on many Melbourne forum sites. Craig if your out there, can you set the record straight. Let us know what the situation is with Michael, where he's at right now and where the club wants to take him.

oh and while ya at it tell us whats going with Daniel Hayse?:blink::wacko:

please.....nice to say please ;)

The amount of hype surrounding Newton on this site is amazing. I like the rest, is looking forward to the kid playing, however its seems as if everyone is riding on the fact that he maybe the next Neitz or something. ( I hope he is.)

I just hope he doesnt read anything on this site because the pressure on him to perform when he gets a game will be massive.

So I suggest everyone take a breath and relax. He will get a game at some stage and dont be ready to shoot him down after his first game.

the hype isnt as big as sylvias debut (mainly by YM, but, that sums it up)

so newton is sure get a handpass AND a kick in his first game

I share your curiosity and we know many are asking the same questions but to be fair, I think some of the answers you are seeking probably aren't for public consumption.

maybe the cryptic path !!

is Juice in the mix ?

yes/no

if yes...then is he 426 ?

if no ...is he 426 ?

( some of you might get that !! lol hehe )

:D ;)

we re all looking for something to get us excited in wot has been an ordinary season. maybe juice is the answer. obviously ND doesn t share the enthusiasm.

CAC would be more [censored] off than any of us

Why do you ask?

Because he continually drafts the best kids possible with the picks we have, only to see them succumb to the worse coaching and development staff in the AFL

Remember, this club hasnt produced a champion since Robbie Flower. Craig has picked some kids that could be icons of the MFC and the game of football. They just lack guidance and leadership.

you feeling ok there YM ?

that made sense !! :D

Amen to that Deano.....

I have said the same thing on a few occasions now, but I have no doubt that he will play soon.

Of course we all want to see a player that could be a great part of our future (especially when Neitz does hang it up) but as has been stated, plenty of times, there must be a reason, that escapes the minds on here, as to why he has not been sighted as yet.

And they really should know his capabilities and readiness better than us.

So please lets not look on the poor kid as some kind of all encompassing saviour for what is a wretched season

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
