Does anyone remember our mantra in 2021?

Oliver was awarded the most selfless player in our drought breaking premiership year.

We talk about culture and i think the core to that is, as a collective being selfless.

People who don't aspire to that within the club whether the CEO or a Norm Smith medalist aren't part of the future.

ANB made a career playing a selfless role and I hope he does well elsewhere.

Max spends his weekends visiting young ruckman on our list demoted to the amatuers to go and show support. He had a baby with his lovely wife and takes Oliver in to live with them because he is going through a rough patch.

We have others like Fritsch who is a brilliant footballer but doesn't have a selfless bone in his body.

We need to get back to what made us great and that was being selfless.

How to we become more selfless again?

How is Fritta selfish?

I said he is not selfless.

Chasing, tackling, corelling or putting defensive pressure on would help his team mates more.

As well as better skilled players, we have to recruit culture setters as a priority, after the loss of Gus, ANB and BBB. I’m not sure who that is, but it is so crucial to provide an environment for all of our young guns to thrive, otherwise they too will be looking elsewhere.

Time to put our laissez faire, amateur club days behind us.

Translates to being selfish.

The topic is good sentiment, however these things ebb and flow in any team and throughout every season.

In terms of Fritsch, I remember there were moments where he burnt team-mates in 2021 but he was at the peak of his confidence and he back himself to kick goals. I reckon he's worked on peripheral vision and passes a lot more now.

I think this year he passed more because he was lower on confidence. The last game, he was running towards goal 35 metres out and tried to pass a 15 metre kick across his body and it dribbled on the ground where that would of been his bread and butter before.

They are polar opposites but i am not going to call Fritta selfish.

I just don't think he is selfless and puts everything on the line for the team first.

Semantics and you are not fooling anyone who doesn’t have an agenda or anger against the club right now.

I hope this isnt another thread to say nasty things about Fritta.  (And hands off Turner btw)

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
