On Tomlinson, a few weeks back we were calling for his head, then he played a decoy role on McKay and a good game against the Pies. Just calm the farm. I think he has a spot down back with petty up forward. I think we need to bench the resting ruckman for awhile and get them fresh for Sept. The loading may or may not be finished but the next few weeks will show. All tracking well in my opinion.

Loading smoading The coaching is the problem

I'm hoping our capitulation against Geelong is just a by product of the bye with so many teams struggling first game back ( not that ours was as long as it should be). It was a tough slog and they rarely lose down there.

But we have a number of players way down on form or carrying niggles.

Max - worst game for nearly a decade and was missing for large chunks. Does not look as mobile as normal and dropping under 12 marks.

JV - The man is a beast and finds a way through pain but that shoulder he reached for is not the one Stewart hits and is the same one as his 'stinger' from against Pies.

May - hasn't looked right all year bar one or 2 games. Runs like he has a back injury.

Clarry - say no more

Grundy - walked to the rooms mid match, played on but looks sore.

Petty- just back from long injury but was clearly not ready.

Hibberd - needs to be managed.

TMac and BBB - banged up for years.

Kozi- terribly out of form, hopefully not an injury but why is he not getting more midfield time?

Our injury list is short but I'm pretty sure it was last year as well late in the season only to find out how sore we were which was evident in our last QTR fade outs.

Hope I'm wrong and history is not about to repeat itself. Our best is as good as anyone but can we bring it??

The more I think about it the more we may be getting annihalated by loading!

Bye didn’t help but last qtr vs cats was more about silky handballs that turned to direct turnover goals to cats it’s that simple!

Viney is ok, just a stinger. Clarry looking ok now fingers crossed! Petty working back, May 💯 has a back injury it’s just his it is and weeks out won’t help apparently.

Loading hard for finals may be the difference this year if it’s been as hard as reported so let’s be thankful we can now gather some momentum being in BBB to help create a mismatch with resting tuck instead of seeing them labour and be nothing but poor defensively and get some fwd cohesion — remember it’s the wet that’s killed us, that and poor goal kicking in Freo game. So we’re on track!

ANB genuinely under pressure now given the turnovers and others issues he’s having atm, this week I think we might even see Woey depending if Clarry is fit.

Brown, Clarry and Bowser the ins with Woey a chance if Hibbs needs a rest or if Clarry doesn’t come up.

You are kidding aren’t you.  I am loving how he is going

No I'm not kidding, I maintain that he is not yet ready! Would rather a combo of BBB, Smith and Petty up forward at present!

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
