I thought by swashbuckling opener, @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew meant he’s the first player on this list and not necessarily an opener in real life.
Like @Salems Lot(above), I can’t veer away from it being a Marsh because of “swamp.”

All I can offer is Doug Bollinger. Bog for swamp, and the slimmest chance of there being in existence a Spanish boat called a Dullinger (stop laughing!)

Methinks this guy’s gonna end up carrying his bat. Unless of course Tim is kind enough to give us a clue (?)

Sorry, no, Salem, though that dynasty is tempting.

You've all played very nicely, thank you; WCW most entertainingly, with creative flourishes of her bat.

He's a genuine opener, as the rest of the team is genuinely used (with a bit of shuffling in the middle order).

Think what could swamp a boat? Then say it with a separate-syllable '-ed' on the end.

David Warner???!!

As in, wave-ed? And a Spanish boat called a Dorner or similar?

Damn! Seems Mazer beat me to it.

I'm late to the party but no 1 is Warner. No-one got it coz the VIN number was sanded off the boat.

I was over the page and missed this, Mazer! Humble apologies. And double points for the humorous hoick!

Wave-ed dorna it is!

And another 0.1 for you, @WalkingCivilWar, just later to the party.

Thanks again everyone!

That’s one of those runs you score when you or your batting partner get out but don’t realise you crossed on the wicket!

Thanks for turning us all prematurely grey!!! 😁

Ok, so I’ve got a quick one in case one of Tim’s eleven contracts Covid.
The clue is: Catty Car

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
