I would be curious to know Brock McLean's thoughts on the Demons winning the 2021 Premiership. I suspect still a lot of bad blood there.....

Mark "Jacko" Jackson's would be quite bemusing to know about too. He was definitely popular with Demons fans in the early 1980s apparently, but whether or not he cares about us anymore I would be surprised.

Actually the two people I would really like to hear their thoughts on about the Demons winning the 2021 flag would be David Neitz and David Schwarz. I bet they had tears of joys in their eyes just like the rest of us!

The former Demons coach John "Swooper" Northey would be over the moon too! Glad he is still around!

I think Brock has had battles of his own during and after football. I get the feeling he has detached from the sport for the most part.

Jacko has gone on the record saying he thinks the AFL is as dry as dust with no showmen, thus he doesn't even watch it. He also said during his infamous interview with Mike Sheehan that we had no guts, made comments intimating we were all a bunch of toffs, we were going nowhere and would never win another flag. I doubt he would be happy for us, but even if he was, he can piddle off. I have no time for the bloke whatsoever (and its not just about his hating on us either).

Swoop is a bloke who I think has divided loyalties in the best possible sense. He played in premierships at Richmond, but was with us for 7 full seasons as well. I saw him once on the train back to Ballarat after a match with his Demons tie on so there is definitely love still there.

Ox is as passionate a Demon as you will find, as is Neita. I need say no more.

I had a chat to Crackers at my local (Torquay) some years ago. Definitely no love for Melbourne.

Likewise for Gerard, although not to the same extent.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
