A gutsy victory by the Aussie Boomers over Italy 86-83. They're now through to the Quarter Finals with a match to spare!

Hockeyroos make it three from three with a 1-0 victory over Japan.

Not as convincing as their first two matches given Japan are arguably weaker opposition, but they got the win. Secured a spot in the Quarter Finals.

Also Sam Stosur/Perez have been knocked out of the doubles in the Tennis with a straight sets loss.

Olyroos 1 - 0 v Egypt at half time.

They have been totally outplayed so far. Can't see them equalising let alone winning.

We had a few chances in the 2nd half but Egypt are up 2-0 now with just over 5 minutes left

Del Solar/Clancy make it 2 from 2 with a really tough 22-20, 21-19 victory over the Italians.  Del Solar the star as Clancy had quite the poor service game, but they were able to get over the line and secure a spot in the Round of 16.  Their next match against Russia should determine who they will face there.

Well done Kookaburras on a tough 4-2 win over New Zealand. Were only 2-1 up with about 6 minutes to go, so wasn't an easy win for them.

Should knock off Spain next which will likely see them draw Great Britain in a Quarter Final and here's hoping the Hockeyroos can also knock the Kiwis off tomorrow night.

Silver for Kyle Chalmers in the 100m Freestyle. Looked like he was going to get it, but just touched out.

Swam half a second faster than Rio as well as revovering from having major shoulder surgery

Beaten by a good type too ... silver a big plus in some ways

Well done Kyle!

Bronze to Australia in the Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay. Bit of a shock as we were expected to dominate this race.

May have got our order wrong, Titmus kicked off and we were 2nd after her leg which got us off on the wrong foot.

Great effort by the girls, but I know they'll be disappointed not to get the gold! Having said all that, the time we swam would have broke the previous World Record.

Update on some of the more niche sports for the Aussies.

Archer Taylor Worth has won his way through to the Quarter Finals and in the BMX Racing Lauren Reynolds & Saya Sakakibara have win their way through to the Semi Final.

Yeah, Ariarna being saved for the 800m?

She's got to be feeling the pinch but to win the triple would be some sort of achievement

Wasn't all that fast on the opening leg by the audio call.  She'd be in the red zone so I get that the coaches don't want to burn her

But as you said, we still broke the world record and were simply beaten by 2 better teams on the day.  No shame in that

Jess Fox magnificent!

So many variables in this sport where not everything is in the athlete's control

So the athletes have to fight against bad luck as well.  The field contained any number of world champions & Olympic medalists too

A worthy winner!

Men's Waterpolo team comes crashing back to earth with a 14-8 loss to Serbia. Were down 10-1 at the half, so they fought it out well. Still in contention for a Quarter Finals birth.

Tough group we're in but hopefully we're able to eke out a win or 2 to advance

Heard today that the Serbians are all fully professional ... doesn't surprise me as Water Polo is huge in the Eastern European Countries

Where as our blokes are strictly part time and all have full time jobs!

Might be a bit tougher to get amongst the medals tomorrow but we are in with a chance in 3 Rowing Finals & the 100m Freestyle for Women.  Saya Sakakibara could surprise in the BMX racing whilst Lucien Delfour is in with a chance in the K1 Canoe/Slalom

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
