Tough 19 point loss for the Boomers against USA today. Was just the last 3-4min of the 2nd term and the 3rd term that killed us.

Will still get a chance for Bronze however on Saturday.

Looks like Melissa Will had just secured herself a medal with a great round of diving! Colour to be determined. Most likely bronze, but a much deserved medal for Melissa. She's been a great diver for a long time, often falling just short.

Matildas lose in cruel fashion to USA in the soccer bronze medal match 4-3. Didn't have the rub of the green with the referee, but an impressive performance from the Matildas.

The ref appeared to be on the books of the states at the end then (saying that in jest). A clear foul that should have gone our way to have a set piece at the end goes the way of the USA. Then we aren’t allowed to play the corner at the end despite the amount of time the USA wasted at the end.

I didn’t watch most of the game as I was out experiencing the last little bit of freedom for a bit. Well done to the Matilda’s in any case, I like their manager, I think they’ve got a very decent chance at mixing it with the best at the upcoming World Cup. They should be very proud of their efforts, but for some very questionable ref calls they might well have taken home a medal of any colour.

Back online after some tech issues. Great result last night for Ashley to claim bronze and heartbreak for the Kookaburras to miss out on Gold through a penalty shoot out with Belgium.

Was probably the right result as Belgium were the better team over the course of the game, however I thought Kookaburras were by far the better team in the last term and were finishing over the top of Belgium, but just couldn't get that goal! I can't help but feel if extra time was still a thing, that may have suited us better?

That's game set and match and a silver medal for the Australian Beach Volleyball pair of Del Solar & Clancy, losing to USA 21-15, 21-16. We've had a bad run against the USA in the last two days with the Boomers, Matildas and now Beach Volleyball team all getting beaten by them.

A great effort from Del Solar & Clancy to now be Silver Medalists at the Commonwealth Games 3 years ago and now at the Olympics as well where they beat the World Number 1 pair from Canada. Here's hoping for Gold in Birmingham next year!

If you need cheering up during lockdown, grab some wine, get on a group chat and watch this with friends. You won't find a better hour of joy elsewhere this weekend (since we are playing Monday!).

Bronze for Harry Garside in the boxing!

Fought a good fight, but just outclassed by Cruz. No shame though, as he really gave it his all. A bronze medal well deserved!

Harry outclassed but he is just starting out ... and he wins a Bronze medal!

Bronze to Kelsey-Lee Barber in the Javelin ... at her best she would have won tonight but she's had all sorts of issues which have effected her performances

Couple more throws tonight and Kelsey-Lee probably wins.  Got better with every throw

Still, a fine performance to win the Bronze

Great effort last night from Kelsey-Lee! As you say Macca, one can't help but think under different circumstances she could have won the Gold? But it's a great performance given all her set backs.

If only she had of got that last piece of beef instead of her brother Greg!😬

We're running out of medal chances TD! Boomers tonight (9pm) for a possible Bronze and McSweyn has a decent opportunity in the 1500m at 9.40pm

After that, 2 chances tomorrow in the Track Cycling as I see it (Men's Keiren & Women's Omnium) but more so a medal chance for Edmondson in the Omnium

Here's hoping we can do it Macca! We're two medals short of equalling our haul of 46 from Bejing and 1 gold short of our best gold haul ever! Hoping for a bolt from the blue, like Chloe Esposito helping us avoid our lowest gold haul since 92' last Olympics.

Eleanor Patterson & Nicola McDermott can feature in the High Jump tonight as well (8.35pm) ... although the Ukrainian jumper (Mahuchikh) will be hard to beat.  You just never know! haha

The Boomers have finally done it! After 65 years and me watching intently since 92' for them to break through for a medal, the Boomers have finally claimed that elusive Olympic medal with a great Bronze Medal win over Slovenia.

Patty Mills you star!!!

And Nicola McDermott claims Silver in the high jump with an Australian record!

That's 46 medals for Australia, equalling our haul from Bejing (bettering it given we've claimed more gold here).

What a games this has been for the nation!

Fantastic Boomers!! We finally got that medal!! The whole team played well but Mills was extraordinarily good!!

And Nicola McDermott put up great show in the High Jump.  Silver medal a magnificent result!! Not far off Gold and it took a champion effort to beat her

At the start of the evening if you'd offered me a Silver & Bronze I would have said ... yes please!!

2 more chances for medals in the Track Cycling tomorrow ... the Keiren (2 Aussies in the Q/F's) can throw up all sorts of results with its frantic finishes whilst Annette Edmondson is an experienced performer in the Omnium and could get into the finish

We deserve another medal to break that overall record so fingers crossed!!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
