Great to get May and Fritta back. Fritsch being available was the unexpected that meant we did the right thing and did not bring in either of BBB or Weid. Why would you change the team structure when 5-0? Honour the players doing their job and playing their that got us here. Form lapse and injuries will occur and create chances at some point. Jackson whilst a key forward/ruck may not be kicking goals but he rarely lose an aerial contest and usually brings the ball down to a dangerous spot for our mids and smalls. The flexibility his role and athleticism gives us is one of the key reasons for our form and in particular our ability to MAXimise Gawn in varying ways.

His ground level skills in picking up the ball after rucking has been great.

If he starts clunking marks and bags of goals Id feel sorry for Bbb and Wied.

Weid, Petty & Sparrow are all warming up with the Casey boys.

No sign of Chandler so guess he's it for sub duty

Warning kids... do not drink and post!

But lets end their dynasty today.

Lets do what we did to the Hawks in 2016, and end their dynasty so badly that one of their older players seeks a trade to us in November. Mr Edwards come on down ??

Edit: This is a quite a great read actually, lots of Hawk misery.

Watching VFL and Weid and Brown made me think of another good aspect of our team selection to take on the Tigers tonight, by not playing our key forwards we are not giving the Tigers a look at our likely line up should we meet in September (assuming we go that far). Where as, we’re getting another look at this Richmond team.

6 hours later...

I probably should have put a little ? or a ? at the end of my previous post of a 19yo.

I thought he did some lovely long kicks into the F50 a few times... so I also just checked the stats on the AFLPRO and he is going at 60/40 handball to kick ratio, and the main point with that, is that I dispute that neither he or his team mates have confidence in his kicking.

I think @Lampers nails it with his quote around the flexibility the he provides for our team and also the difficulty as a match up for opponents.

15hrs later...

19 - he is only 19yo.

Eating my words a little right now.  That was a bloody rippa game from big Dogga Jacko Jackson.

19 - he is only 19yo

...19

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
