Not a footballer in my view

Cant understand why he is on the list Great Athlete  apparently Needs to get more skills to remain

His skills would be maybe of standard in very low grades. Maybe i say.  athlete ?  yes.    That is it.

He has had his chances , no more excuses.

Joel adds very little if anything at all to Melbourne's on field performance. There are arguably too many below average players in the side and he is among the worst in my view. AFL standard is higher than his level of play

I can see why the FD want him to succeed, he has the athleticism to play small or tall and aside from May is the only player I can think of that has the physical attributes to go with players like Dusty, Danger or Fyfe when they're forward.  Footy smarts no at this stage but physically yes - it's hard to find someone who can play this important role.

Really!  how can Joel go with Dusty, Danger or Fyfe  if he has no smarts?   Please !   Footy smarts never at any stage.

I am surprised,  l didn't expect those comments from you  of all people.  What are you thinking?    Brain freeze !

I agree he needs to develop his footy smarts. He has only played 18 games and has May and Lever on field to guide him and Jetts probably off field.  I think it's a long shot but would pay off big if he can make it because of his physical versatility.

Perhaps we can utilise his athleticism……on the wing?

Played a couple of half decent games this year but if he’s on our list in 2022 I’ll be very surprised.

I hope he does  however  IMO he needs a miracle the standard is too high for him to reach. He won't help us make finals.

I am sorry he just does not cut it.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
