I’m just curious as to whether there has been any change to the average number of free kicks being paid in matches this year. It could be a good opportunity to gauge how much influence the crowds do have on umpires.

Anyone here across these kinds of figures at all?

A little off topic, but...whilst talking about umpires.

One thing I have noticed is the deliberate out of bounds interpretation has been tightened up.

You kick the ball and it goes out, you can almost guarantee it will be a free kick against.

Almost a default last touch rule.

Not sure about free kick totals, but Collingwood, Bulldogs and St Kilda are getting good assistance from the umps.
