How a ‘disappointed’ Jack Viney responded to losing Melbourne captaincy role

Melbourne coach Goodwin said Viney had responded positively to his new role.

“My conversations with him have been really simple; he is all in,” Goodwin said.

“He wants this club to be the best club it can be, he wants to support Max in the best way that he can.

“There will be people out there that will say, ‘Is he all in?’ Well, if you ask that question you don’t know Jack Viney. He’s never been more passionate about this footy club.”

And Jack has lived up to his word like always.  Lost the captaincy and didnt sulk but instead took his game to another level.  He bleeds for this club.

What a great season he is having.

Has been our most consistent mid for mine. His attack on the ball each week is faultless. His kicking is hit and miss but he’s been getting better at lowering his eyes going forward.
Considering he has a newborn, which we all know means little sleep, especially with two hub changes, I think he’s done remarkably well.

Has dealt with captaincy demotion, hubs, newborn and seems to be over foot issue (including reducing muscle mass).  Loving his season and no doubt he still bleeds red and blue.
