Training Saturday 6 July

Featured Replies

The squad out together on Gosh's for a clean, precise captains run.

Started with warm up drills followed by short passing.

After some run throughs, they went down for some serious goal kicking. Some coaches on the mark, including Simon Goodwin guiding the accuracy.

They split into the line teams.

Forwards practising rolling from a defender to create spread and overlap. Sam Wiedeman and Jayden Hunt working leads at different angles at the end of training.

Braydon Preuss working off Stafford with taps to the mids, Jordan Lewis with Kyle Dunkley and the others working inside.

Angus Brayshaw a little proppy, Clayton Oliver a touch off (hope it is just at training).

Back line looks compact and there was connection between Sam Frost and Steven May.

Appeared to be working on timing the release and hitting a player down the corridor.

Christian Pettraca and Jack Viney had light duties.

The rehab had Jake Melksham running with timed laps, Billy stretch, Tim Smith and I think James Jordan and Kade Chandler.

Mood was subdued, could be just going through the paces, though Jordan Lewis up about his selection.

Max Gawn was not in the squad.

Did Max Gawn train, and if so how was he moving?

No sign of Max......May have a run tomorrow but looks doubtful.

Just crazy if he plays & hopefully common sense prevails.

Speaking of Captains, was Jones there? It was mentioned yesterday or Thursday (?) that he left the track and was in doubt.

Jordan Lewis is a professional footballer.

Round 7 is here, with the ANZAC commemoration games taking centre stage. Who are you tipping this week, and which results would be most favourable for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

Before Sunday, the last time the Brisbane Lions had walked onto the turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, they celebrated the pinnacle of the sport - an AFL premiership secured in emphatic fashion for the second consecutive year.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
