we're coming along in leaps and bounds....golly it's exciting, these times.......

How about we ask the AFL to schedule more home games at Marvel, the SCG and the GABBA!   Might produce a better result on the W/L ledger BZ.  The only downside is i probably wouldn't see many of the interstate wins!

I could handle it RN. Winning in Brisbane/ Sydney/ Perth is way way way better than losing at the G. Play the GF at the SCG if that is what it takes to win a GF. In fact transfer to Tassie if that will win us a flag. Anything will be better than the last 55 years.

As I've said for the last few years, with our list and game style we will be much better off and improve our chances of making finals more regularly playing out of Marvel.

P.S. our success at Marvel isn't coincidental IMO.  Pre Roos era we were rubbish there.  His view/impressions/experience prior coaching experience at the Swans on a ground similar in dimensions.  Game style and list built around winning on that ground.  Brings similar to the MFC.  We start winning more often at Marvel as a result of similar framework, rebuild and 'type' of player recruiting/training and methods.  The GABBA probably most similar in size as well.  100% win record albeit small sample.  Is that just before the bye or all matches since Goody took over ABG?

Goody inherited a style / list that isn't designed to go all that well on the much larger territory of the G, more success on SCG sized grounds.  And that's how it's panning out.

Stadium Dimensions:

SCG:  155 x 136m

Marvel:  159.5 x 128.8m

MCG:  173.6 x 148.4m

Optus: 165m x 130m

Adelaide Oval:  167 x 123m

GABBA:  156 x 138m

Metricon:  161 x 134m

Giants Stadium:  164 x 127.5m

GMHBA:  170 x 115m

We beat Geelong in a  final at the MCG because they are an insecure  team away from home in big  games and Hawthorn as well in a final because we played a tough brand of football. We were on a role before the finals. We didn't look slow then.                                         It is definitely a confidence problem and injuries play a big role .

No doubting this Soup.  Possibly fitness and conditioning too.  Effects ability to execute anything well for long enough to stay in a match.  That inability to execute effects confidence.  From there doubts creep in in self and trust in team mates.  Nose dive from there.  Can be done but difficult to pull out of.

Probably but we are destined to  fade from view unless we get a home soon and I need a good run of winning seasons, another  decade of this crap  is a bridge too far for me.

Waverley Park OD.  It's old and probably  in need of a big refurb but beggars can't be choosers.   Hawks grabbed a bit of silver using that as their base so it can't be too bad surely.

Doesn't have to be forever either.  Some say we dont need a proper home to perform/win flags etc but i don't buy it.  Having a home would bring a spirit and connection to the club by all involved and might be the key final piece in the puzzle that's been missing for 55 years.

You have my vote RN but how long before the Hawks vacate?

? I can't see it happening OD but i believe it's 2022.  Would we even get a vote?  I can't recall voting on anything other than board members over the years and the merger

IMO we cannot wait till 2022 and the only ones who would agree to Waverly would be you and me. As there is no location to vote on our votes won't be required RN.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
