We win by a point.

You would be a terrible coach. Every act on the field is important for the team. Goodwin understands this and won’t play Garlett who doesn’t do the defensive pressure acts.

A great goal. Every bit as skilful as Sheed’s but probably more complex. She doesen’t have the same strength in her leg as a man would under the same circumstances and the women’s preseason is much shorter than the men’s. This ultimately leads to the women having less feel for the footy and their skills suffer.

The women’s game suffers because people are critical of the skills. I have tried to highlight a great goal please don’t try and reduce the importance of it.

No you compared it to something.....  I never said it wasn’t a great goal. @Wrecker45

I compared it because they kicked their goals from very similar spots.

If Wayne Halmes knocks the ball in to win a gf I will call it Jetta like.

If Malcolm Blight kicks a barrel from the wing I will call it Jayden Hunt like.

When a female footballer slots a goal to keep us alive in the premiership race I will praise her. I bleed red and blue and embrace the female football team because of the colours they wear that flow through my veins.

I understand your simplistic idea thatDom Sheed’s goal was better due to the point in the match and likely outcome. But that means you put greater weight on minutes later in the game when every minute influences the outcome.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
