Happy with our pick?

I'm happy with Weideman's development, no doubt about that.  The only other player I'd consider swapping him for on that list is Curnow, who is going to be a star of the competition very soon.  I think Weideman can become a terrific player for us long term, though.

I think Curnow had a slight edge on the weid.  However playing the last h&a rounds were tense games and the Weid played well.   His first 2 finals were exceptional and expect him to rise to another level in 2019.

Weideman IMO is developing into something special and will definitely hold his own.

As for Mckay, Himmelberg and Hipwood they are improving types and Schache i believe  is lagging behind.

It's a good crop of promising young players.  Whilst Curnow is the best of the bunch to date, he is nowhere near the player that the press has pumped him up to be.  He's an exciting talent and very promising for the future, but like Hipwood, hasn't put it together just yet.  And of course, they shouldn't be expected to.  Hogan, Brown, Riewoldt are very much the exceptions rather than the rule.

Hipwood and Curnow look like they have the talent and athletic ability to tear games apart.  I personally don't see Curnow playing as a KPF for much longer.  I'd see him as a roaming half-forward/wingman.  A lot of the Hipwood hype has died down over the last year or so, but he kicked 37 goals last year in a very average team.

I was very keen on McKay in his draft year, but he hasn't developed the athletic edge I though he would to this stage of his career.  If Weideman can develop his consistency and his partnership with McDonald, he should develop into a very good KPF for us.

Himmelberg could go either way.  I watched a bit of him last year, but he doesn't strike me as a 'main man' and may only thrive as a 2nd or 3rd tall; a bit like Cam Mccarthy in his GWS days.  Schache is a bust... not a lot to add to that.

At this stage:

1) Curnow

2) Hipwood

DAYLIGHT

3) Himmelberg

4) Weideman

5) McKay

A LOT OF DAYLIGHT

6) Schache

5 years from now:

1) Curnow

2) Hipwood

3) Weideman

4) McKay

5) Himmelberg

A LOT OF DAYLIGHT

6) Schache
