There is a poll on AFL.com.au asking where you think the Dee's might finish in 2007.

At this stage:

1-4 has 15%

5-8 has 56%

9-12 has 21%

13-16 has 8%

from a total votes of 3373

Let's try and get that 1-4 number up a bit higher.

Pump yourselves up for 2007!!

If 3373 people have responded, it's pretty unlikely we'd change the 56% majority feeling of 5th-8th.

I think the Melbourne fans have all voted 1-4, the Melbourne haters have all voted 9-16, and the majority have just put us where we were last year. To be expected for any predictive poll of this sort.

Besides, I don't really want to pump us up. I'd prefer we just went about our business confidently but without making rash statements or projections. The only way to answer any critics, especially those who have us finishing 13-16, is by stellar performance on the field.

So even if its a survay about what EACH person thinks were meant to say 1-4. Whats the point. I for one hate people telling me what do do, seing did that survay and said 5-8. Dees have to show what there made of as they have let us down other years. Should brisbane fans all vote 1-4, even if they dont think it. Rediculious!

There's a mathematician in every crowd.

This says 71% reckon we'll make the finals - 4 years in a row. The rest can whistle Dixi.

Good starting point to go on with - not to be staified though.

The 5-8 consensus is no surprise.

Most supporters of other clubs see us as just making up the numbers in the top 8. This is hardly surprising given our last 3 seasons.

Hopefully in 2007 we will earn their respect.

Really physced for 07' it will be our best season since 2000 i reackon. Plenty of depth, a good mix of youth and experience, the bate jones type are gonna start playing some really good footy, Bruce and Trav will find some good form, much higher fitness than before, Experience players still playing some good footy or there best, Hard tackling side that was last year will improve even more and the list goes on!!

Cmon try and stack up the negatives to that!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
