Golden Era of Ruckmen?

Featured Replies

DD, many aspects of Aussie Football go in cycles, particularly the size and value of All Players and this depends on many things, especially the Rules and the Administration. At the mo the little fast fellas are "king pin" but mark my words, this will change.

Sort of like tall forwards and "good umpires"

Good point and you may we’ll be right. No doubt about it Ruckmen/ Forwards and Ruckmen / midfielders had a good weekend. But I want to see it for more rounds in a season - before I’m going to declare a “golden” era.

I remember when Dimma first mentioned playing Griggs in the ruck we thought he had lost his marbles - but Griggs is an AFL premiership ruckman

There's only 1 ruckman and that's GAWN BABY

Judd is on drugs saying Grundy is better than him and Kruezer is in the top 5.

Kruezer is top 5. He was the most dominant ruckman in the league last year. He has had a slow start to the year because he came into the season under and injury cloud - which is the only way Grundy gets the better of him. A fully fit Kruezer is an absolute beast. Not only is he top 5, but a lock for top 3.

I don't think Grundy compares to Gawn, but I could be wrong. Grundy did look good last week but I suspect that is only because Kruezer was underdone and slightly injured.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
