Favourite football promotions

What’s everyone’s favourite Footy promotions? I loved “the boys are back in town” in the 90’s and “I’d like to see that”. “The thing about football” was awesome too. Of course we all love “up there Cazaly”. I’m too young to remember it, but Dad said “A little bit of Cazaly” in us was good. I think my favourite would have to be “All fired up” in 1988. Maybe because I’m such a big Pat Benatar fan and the song and film clip they used were so perfect together.

opportune post  - i saw a promo on Fox for all the sports they are showing and it is basically a lady picking up and dropping off sports stars ( Slater, Steve Smith, Darius Boyd are three i can recall). The funniest is when Dusty Martin tries to get in the front seat and she tells him to get into the back seat - holds out her arm - stiff arm style and says "don't argue" - well made me laugh.

Without a doubt, the best ever was the Four'nTwenty Pies bus trip way back in the 1960s.

'Oh, what a loverly pie, me boys ... oh, what a loverly poy,

Lotsa tasty pastry in a Four'nTwenty poy,

Lotsa loverly tenda meat, the fynest you can buy!

Oh, what a loverly poy, me boys ...oh, what a loverly poy!  Oi!

Jack Dyer, Ted Whitten, Lou Richards, Kevin Murray, Bob Davis , and all the big names of the game singing their hearts out whilst orally spraying chewed Four'nTwenty pie cud all over the place inside the bus. Phantastique!

Forgot to mention Skob Bilton - the triple Brownlow medallist, amongst this bus trip to the dark side of the undernourished moon. Sorry Sth Melb supporters ...

Uh pretty sure that was for meat pie, rather than to sell football!

I was a big fan of the 'league of its own' ad from about 10 years ago.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
