Earlier this week a Facebook post was shared around about a kid named Lachy who'd injured his neck playing for Seaford:

Quote

Hi all,
I'm not sure if your aware but I coach Seaford junior U/12's and on Sunday one of my players Lachy was injured badly and taken off in an ambulance.
He is currently home with a neck brace for the next week, he has to go to the royal children's to see a specialist to asses the damage to his neck, it's not broken but he is in pain with either muscle damage or ligament damage.
Lachy loves the footy club and loves training and playing, he is a lovely boy and is always happy and smiling all the time.
He lives and breathes for his footy and his beloved AFL side the Melbourne Demons.
It would really cheer him up if one of his Demon players could send him a get well, so I'm asking you all to share if this post can reach one of them from the club
Cheers

When I saw this, I sent the link on to the club page, while a number of others contacted players or their family members directly.  I got a reply today from the club saying that they had looked after young Lachy, so I went and had another look at the original thread.

No less than ten players took the time to get in touch and have a chat.  Cam Pedersen got on the thread and asked for a mailing address so he could organise some signed merchandise.

How awesome is this club?

Great to hear. The club is on the right path these days...

That's a really awesome effort. I think a few clubs do this and it's great to see them giving back like this.

How good is that. And it's not isolated. Tracca well known for taking time away from the club to deal with kids on his own.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
