Got a mate who is right into horse racing and he reckons Cascadian is the one

14 horse field with any number of chances on a fast track in a truly run race could suit the swoopers and a horse like Kolding

I am leaning cascadian then I lean Kolding, both of them with HH and VE will prob be my first 4.

HH I give a fair chance too as well.

It's a good race and an ideal way to start the Group1 season, Gorg

Looking ahead nearly all the Group1's have been upgraded to be worth at least $1Million now so the fields throughout the Spring will be strong

And that's apart from the 4 or 5 other big races out of Sydney that are worth a mint but not recognised as Group races (Everest, Invitation, Golden Eagle, Bondi St etc)

Mo’unga gets the choccies!

I went with Cascadian and as it pulled out it it got bumped by another taking its momentum, got going again but not enough. Very tight finish to the race.

One to watch in that Race is Lightsaber, not over 1200, I reckon 1400 is it’s sweet spot, but I’ll be watching it as in the coming weeks I reckon it goes up to 1400. I’ve had some nice collects off it it’s last prep.

I'm having an exotic bet in the race anyway ... exacta or F4 so Lightsaber is in!

Will do our double as it has to come up sooner or later!!  20-1 or thereabouts gives out a handy collect

What do you like in the Memsie, Gorg?

Behemoth & Tofane pick themselves but Inspirational Girl won the Railway in good time in the Perth carnival.  Fifty Stars my roughie

Behemoth if it gets a run at it wins.

Beau Rossa out of gate one gives it a run along the rail the whole way. I just wonder if they will try and hold it back a little. I love this horse and at 9.50 I’ve taken it with a bonus bet.

Fifty Stars is interesting but normally runs longer distances iirc.

Sierra Sue is the one I think can push them. Gate 5 should give it a good spot. And tbh Streets of Avalon at $18 is well overs. Thought it would be $8-10.

So for me

Behemoth, Beau, Tofane, Sierra will be my 4

Fifty Stars rarely runs a bad race and has still got a bit of speed & kick.  Streets has to go in.  More so both those 2 for the multiples

Colette likes it soft and J Cummings has bypassed the Winx Stakes for this race (may not get the conditions to suit though)

Streets & Red Can Man should vie for the lead according to the speed maps.  Both are very honest types

The soft track suits Sierra sue as well. With 12 horses I wouldn’t be surprised to see 6-7 cross witching a head of each other, but if all ran their best race I reckon behemoth wins.

@Macca this could be huge

Certainly is ... racing.com are covering the story and all 4 jockeys (Jamie,  Melham, Ethan Brown & Celine Gaudray) are out for the mandatory 14 days on the advice of the Chief Health Officer

Another month on top of that and heavy fines? Could be more judging by the reaction of Giles Thompson.  Not a happy camper!

Whoever gets to ride Behemoth & Ayrton just got lucky!!

Agreed re the big boy!  But who gets on for the ride?  Beau hasn't won beyond 1200m save for a BM64 win at Sandown over 1300m

Tofane has stellar G1 form and Inspirational Girl rounds out my top 3 with her excellent G1 form

The 1400 is a concern for Beau but I reckon it’s good enough but the company is very good as well. Tbh I think in my f4 BR could be the weakest link.

Who rides Behemoth is anyone’s guess. I mean who’s available and have they ridden him before cos they ain’t getting much work on him prior to the day.

The 4 aforementioned jockeys out for the entire Spring!  Not surprising given how the stewards normally operate.  A tad harsh but it was a blatant disregard of the rules with a lot at stake

Prebble onto Behemoth & John Allen will ride Ayrton.  And just to highlight what Jamie is missing out on ... 5% of the winnings (Jockey's share) in the Memsie St is worth $30k.  Plus the 'sling'.  And that's just 1 race!

Ouch!

The entire spring? I heard a two week ban. Wow, that’s insane.

Yes, the Victorian stewards handed down the penalty this morning.

The 4 were already in isolation for 2 weeks as well as being fined $5k+ by the Government

Still, Ollie & JMac served hefty suspensions for gambling related offences so big penalties come with the territory sometimes

I read the stewards report and they are right. Could have affected the whole industry. Well Kah can survive this, the other will suffer more long term

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
