Dosh is running in the 4th, was on that when it was paying $20. I’ll have to look at it tomorrow.

Good win by Dosh - looks to have a real future.  Well done!

I got on Frost Flowers (at better odds) on Sunday but your pick was too far good.  The Jockey (Childs) reckons that there is more in the tank too

General Beau ran half a second quicker (3 lengths) in the C & G preview but times aren't everything

Yeah it’s run well both times.

next race is so small im thinking of trying a long shot

Never again out to 11 10 mins from start

Blazejowski way too good anyway.  It was due but I thought the weight might stop it

Got a double (More Prophets & All Banter) to make up for it.  Win some,  lose some but I'm in front for the day with a few more in Sydney to top up the balance (hopefully!)

Was on Miss Albania in a couple of multis ... just missed on a decent pay day as the others got up (see above post)

But Regardsmaree wins in great style to end a decent day at Caulfield.  Warwick Farm next!

I was on Blaze a few races ago and it was poor. But I’d liked it in the past. Was def a strong run by it.

I ended slightly down but that’s ok, went for some long shots that didn’t pan out this time.

Tomorrow at Geelong Stylish Enuff runs.
second run, it’s first was a 2 length win at the Same distance.

Be interesting to see how it goes, it won that last race with ease.

Some stories to come out of today's racing - go here

I reckon General Beau (winner of the Blue Diamond C & G Preview) could be the main focus ... the connections would have to pay a late entry of $50k for the Blue Diamond Stakes (although they picked up a cool $96k for today's win)

But 'Dosh' in the fillies preview was very impressive as well and had a bit in reserve according to Jordan Childs.  Frost Flowers was the raging favourite and couldn't match Dosh but might be better for the run at the Heath

All Banter the 3yo did it well also against the older horses ... now being set for the Oakleigh Plate where it will get in as lightweight chance.  Kept finding under Williams which is always a good sign

Stylish enuff is running its second race tomorrow at flem race 2. Paying $8 at the min. I was on its first run and it won by 2 lengths and looked good.

Back at Caulfield & Rosehill this Saturday with a number of the Autumn carnival horses returning (as well as Behemeth & Kemelpasa in the Durbridge Stakes @ Morphettville - R6)

The 2yo's feature again in both the main venues but the eyes will also be on The Expressway St. (R7 Randwick) & The Manfred St. (R5 Caulfield) The good news for punters is that there is no standout favourite in either race.  Small fields in both races but there's some value there if you can find the winner (or winners!)

Best Bet (Saturday)

Randwick R7 No.6 Flit 8.50/2.30

Included in a place multi could be the go with Flit but the 4yo Mare races well fresh and likes the soft conditions

Into $5 this morning.

Yes with Ole Kirk & Standout scratched the deductions kick in.  Flit is still good value in my view ... 6.50 available at Laddies

You got anything?

I figured we may as well kick things off re the best bets with the good horses starting to return

Edited by Macca

Race 3, rich Dane has come in from 26 to 8.50 due to the wet and some scratching.

Behemoth runs in the 6th at Morphetville but is paying $1.50 on its return. That’s crazy odds, I mean I’m usually on it but that’s too short even for me

Cracking run by Hangman then, I was on it at $14 so a nice collect that could have been better 1 meter shorter and worse 1 step later.

Open minded in the 7th at sale today I’ve been on previously.

And I see Sha Tin has bonus bet for 2nd and 3rd for the first 4 races.

Following Purton & Moreira (primarily) at Sha Tin today ... hoping for a few collects!  They are both on a number of the best horses anyway

Laddies are offering double winnings for races 5 & 6 as well as the Sportsbet offer you mentioned for races 1 thru 4

I use all that plus apply booster odds whenever applicable

I rarely bet over there. I’ll keep an eye on those two names in the early races and see how I go.

The form at Sha Tin is miles better to understand and decipher than any Sunday meetings in Oz (in a general sense)

Plus, the really good jockeys & trainers are operating in HK as well.  Jockeys like Karis Teetan,  Jerry Chau & Vincent Ho get lots of winners whilst Size & Fownes as well as a few other trainers are prominent as well

But Moreira & Purton dominate and a number of their mounts offer up value as well

I generally bet in Sydney & Melbourne on a Saturday and usually HK on a Sunday

The rest of it is a total mystery in my view so I steer clear (unless I get a tip)

James Jordan at Morphettville is a top tipster so a few races there on a Saturday as well (the value runners)

Overs @ 4 40 in a small field?

It's been running excellent times for its class including 1:09.66 in its last start win at Caulfield.  That's good going for a BM70 ... might be worth following up on.  1:08.99 today carrying 58.5kg

Queen Annabel looked the only real threat pre race and that was 16-1

Zac just got me a winner in R3 at HK but just missed in R4 (bonus bet back though)

Yeah I  was on Lucky fun and also Jimenez at Sale

For Open Minded it was under 4 early, I waited and it drifted to 4.20 when I grabbed it. Reckon it will come up in class.

The Longines Thoroughbred Awards are out for the 2020 year

Listed below are the top 10 horses (n.b. 'Golden Sixty' was born in Australia so we get to claim him!)  Addeybb we'd be familiar with after winning 2 Middle Distance G1's in Sydney last Autumn.  Both Arcadia Queen & Verry Elleegant were rated in the 40's but it was great to see Bivouac,  Classique Legend & Nature Strip make the top 10

Ghaiyyath & Authentic finished 1 & 2 and you can click on the highlighted events to watch the replays of their G1 triumphs ... both horses were quite dominant fully recognised for their greatness

                   Ghaiyyath

                   Authentic

Frankie Dettori took out the Jockeys award (scroll down further) ... no Moreira in the top 10?  J-Mac & Zac Purton got into the top 10 and rightly so

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
