Have you blokes had a look at Winterbottom at Ascot today? (Race 9)

I don't mind 'Elite Street' (#13) at the value (20-1)

Trekking the obvious standout but a bit short for my liking

I’ve not looked at any races today tbh, will check it out now.

Ha ha!

I live for Saturday racing ... can't get enough of it.  Used to be the footy but we don't play all that much on a Saturday arvo these days

And I no longer play cricket so it's all about the horses on a Saturday now

I’m working 6 days a week at the min, so I’ve spent all morning and up until now doing chores etc just haven’t had the time. And tbh I lessen off once main spring carnival is done unless I go to the races. But I’m on NFL games this time of year.

I’m on your horse @Macca

Had a look early and got a fourth and a third so bonus bet then just got Bandersnatch and Two big Fari so I’m up nicely

Good work Gorg

Money back today but I'm playing with some bonus bets overnight (Del Mar) & tomorrow (Sha Tin)

Go 'Elite Street'!

Great get @Macca!!!

Had it in a small multi that got up too, so another 124. Good days for a day I wasn’t even going to punt on ???

Fantastic!

Bonus bucks in the off season!

Hope you got a nice collect (as I did)

It drifted right out in the betting but I'm not complaining.  Thought 20-1 was overs

Did the same and 'Elite Street' has definitely got a future too.  Scooted around them with a real turn of foot

Another W.A. horse that could end up over in the Eastern States.  Lightly raced but has real speed against the clock.  It wasn't a great field but it still beat a very good horse in Trekking home

Dare I say it ... an ADATR Blackbooker

Winners are grinners!! haha

Got told #10 Da Deputy in the Jerhico at Warrnambool is a good chance.
paying $16

I'll go with that Gorg ... excellent each-way value.  A little disappointed with the support card for such a terrific event (The Jericho) but hopefully over time that will be addressed

Anyway,  a full field of 14 (with the 4 emergencies scratched) augers well for the concept

And here's the replay of the Winterbottom Stakes followed by last weekend's Railway Stakes

Well a roughy won it, just not the right roughy ?

Yeah,  Count Zero won at big odds ... its form back in the Autumn was very sound but it has been running over 2000m (or shorter) in the lead up to this race

They obviously knew what they were doing and on a 7 day back-up as well

Da Deputy was beaten a long way from home but that's racing

Japan Cup on in 30 minutes and it looks a race between Almond Eye & Contrail but I'm on Glory Vase (each-way)

Glory Vase loomed large with a furlong to go but got run over (after kicking again)

Well deserved win to Almond Eye though (what a mighty mare)  Will be retired now after a stellar career

Contrail ran on well to help secure the 'obvious' quinella for punters (which I didn't have of course!)

Jericho Cup & Japan Cup both run today

Some good racing coming up on the weekend with the Kingston Town Classic being the standout race.  Small field in the Pakenham Cup but it's a very good betting race.  Click on any of the listed races below for the fields, form & odds

If you are looking for a horse to flesh out a multi

Doomben, Race 9, #7 Isotope $2.05

Thanks for that Gorg

I quite like 'Watch Me Dance' (No.16) in the Kingston Town Classic (Ascot Race 8)

3 of the big bookies have picked it outright noting that it's carrying only 50kgs and has drawn well

At 11-1 it represents good value

Inspirational Girl is the one to beat but it has drawn gate 18 ... I've got it going in a couple of multi's as the saver bet (including your pick 'Isotope')

When in doubt defer to the experts (so they say)

James Jordan (JJ) has snagged 6 winners from 8 races at Morphettville today

Edit:  Make that 7 from 9

Edited by Macca

Didn’t see any at Morphettville today but that’s impressive.

Ended the day $10 down as Beat the Bro got pipped in a photo in the last at Ascot.   So I was either going to end $10 down or $100 up.
considering I was across races from Packo, Rosehill and Ascot I can’t complain. Will roll my bonus bets into the NFL and hope for a winner.

My betting strategy nearly always includes the races from S.A and in particular, James Jordan's tips.  And when he and Gator both tip well I do well

The challenge is matching up 2 of the tips in a small multi as the tips can often be the short priced favourites.  Worked out well today as Gator had a reasonable day as well (although I went looking for value (against a few) to my detriment!)

Would have cleaned right up if Inspirational Girl had have got up.  Truly Great a deserved winner though.  Too good

Good luck with the NFL ... I'll be doing a 4 or 5 pick H/F multi.  All home teams as I don't trust my judgement on road teams! ?

Sha Tin tomorrow though playing with house money

Yeah I got up early with Written Miss, been on her both races. She is class and will move up to better races soon enough. So I went after some longer shots, missed also on a multi with Inspirational girl.

  • 3 weeks later...

Geelong race 6 #8 whowoodathort $21

Work with one of the owners, they and the trainer think it’s a chance.
throught I’d pass it on.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
