Best Bet Doomben (Saturday)

R7 No.2 Mugatoo 6.00/1.70

Meets the topweight Zaaci 3kgs better off despite beating it home by 2 lengths in the Doncaster

Or ... the place bet in a multi could be used as 1 of 2 bankers.  I'd be surprised if Mugatoo isn't in the finish

As for your pick Gorg,  Streetcar is a big chance!

Tonight at Geelong in the last Bowing runs, the guy at work who’s family owns/part owns said watch it, but they are saying by third run it will be cherry ripe but they are keen on Just Folk in the last at Sandown on Sunday as a EW prospect.

Best Bet (Saturday) Randwick R4 No.2

More Prophets 4.60/1.70

@Macca canasta runs tomorrow, first back which I was told isn’t usually at its best (runs better second up), but it’s trial it nearly beat two sprinters over 1000 and they are very happy with how it looks. They are Hoping the track dries some more.

Ran a good race and nearly hung on to win ... our other hopes weren't in it though!

There was some value up at Eagle Farm but I only got Apache Chase up.  Got out with a reasonable percentage of the trifecta in the last at Morphettville

But at E/Farm I left out a good horse in Exhilarates and didn't follow up on Vega One.  You live & learn!

Kukeracha & Tiger of Malay were great value as well but the punters didn't go after either of them

Canasta ran very well, pity it couldn’t quite make it. Got one winner and 7 places so I’ve a lot of bonus bets and sod all cash ?

Yeah our two selections ran poor. But can’t always be right.

And the big watch will be on Invincible Caviar in the R4 2yo event Gorg

For those not familiar,  the dam side of Invincible Caviar is none other than 'Black Caviar' whilst the sire is 'I am Invincible'

Thrashed a stablemate in a jump out and trained by Peter Moody

$7 for the win can be had and I've backed it for the prime reason that if it does win,  I was on it first time!  Don't want to miss out!

It’s $6 on Sportsbet, I’ll wait til tomorrow and get on it with the power play as well.
Can’t fault the bloodlines that’s for sure.

The Laddies boost is $1 on anything $5 or more

Once hitting $11 the boost is $2 (or more)

But under $5 the boost is negligible ... 4.20 to 4.60 etc etc.  I used to be able to get a $1.50 boost on anything from 4.50 to 8.50 but they've downgraded me

(B☆¿$#%&'s!!)

So Invincible Caviar is showing $6 but you can get $7 with a boost.

Suits my value (or each-way) betting

I'm surprised it's not 4.00 or less (just for the hype)

Yeah I didn’t know it was running but agree thought the hype might have have had it at shorter odds

Got 18-1 the double ... race to race too which has a bit of tradition to it

The card up at Eagle Farm is very good but there isn't a race at Rosehill that appeals.  It's like a Wednesday meeting standard wise

Flemington looks half-decent with a few Vobis races.  Got a few value tips from James Jordan for Morphettville on Saturday ('Get On - S.A' on the racing channel)

I’ll be out sat arvo so I’ll prob stick to Flemington. Already got our bets on it so might go over the rest sat morning and plug them in before I leave. I do usually prefer to place the bets race by race especially if I can see them parade.

@Macca got a tip for a greyhound running tonight at Geelong. Race 9, no7 Mcinerney $7.50

I personally know nothing about it, but will by 10pm ?

Invincible Caviar lead and got ran down in the last 50, far from disgraced and worth looking at over the next few races.

The Frankel filly (Argentia) was most impressive though Gorg.  A real blackbooker and will relish greater distances you'd imagine

Invincible Caviar got beaten by a good one

Had a return to form today ... got 4 wins and 3 x 2nds at Eagle Form doing my own form only.  Didn't even look at any of the tipsters choices.  Charleise, Nudge & Duais stood out and they all saluted!

And in the end went with a few of Gators picks at Rosehill and got a couple of value winners there as well

Nice work!!! I stayed at Flem and I’m even. Nearly got a 4 leg multi but not quite.

Best Bet Saturday

Eagle Farm R7 No.2 Converge $4.00 (Win)

Canasta is running in the last at Randwick, if it stays Heavy or worse it’s a very good show.

Will keep an eye out Gorg

Got a couple/few that you like in the Stradbroke?

I've had a small wager using bonus bets on Apache Chase (carrying 49.5kgs) but Vega One & Wild Planet aren't carrying much weight either

Exotics could pay really well and I might box a Trifecta in the race

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
