I wouldn't even know where to look Wadda ... all my betting is via the internet and as previously stated,  I have no idea how all-in betting works as I never do it.

And I'm with Ladbrokes (for now)  Give them a ring (or you could try Sportsbet or any of the other betting agencies)

Im actually not sure of the definition of All In?..Does it refer to long term bets mainly i guess..as far as i know you dont get your money back if the horse doesnt run? I guess thats all you need to know anyways...haha..Ok so you just do the multis and your amazing trifectas....Yeah ok, i might try Ladbrokes Ts & Cs.....

Ok i rang Ladbrokes. They have the same policy. They also cannot promote matched betting in Victoria, new legislation or something...But they do have odds boost so the Ace High Double would be 12.95/1.

Im considering signing up now.

They were incredibly polite and helpful

That's about it Wadda but I've been known to do quite a few trifectas in a day ... but only if I'm playing with house money.  Often it's just 2 or 3 trifectas and if I bomb out early,  I call it quits for the day.  Not sure about using the the word 'amazing' though ... more like pot-luck most of the time!

I have all my trifecta races lined up but lately I've been getting an early collect which keeps me going for the day.  I usually aim for 33% - 50% of the dividend which involves a $12 or $18 outlay in a 3 - 5 - 5 combination.  So when I get a trifecta I never get the full dividend.

Multi's only using our best bets with a few other horses thrown in - sometimes those other horses are in the same races.  Again,  small outlays only.

Ok cool. I wasnt sure about the % you were getting with that combo......but 33-50% is pretty good. Thats an interesting strategy. Ive often seen trifectas as a bit like a poker machine.....you sit and watch the numbers come up....bang bang bang.....its great fun! (not that i like pokies) never. House money is definitely the way to play. Thats why i like multis so much, because you use their money in all the subsequent legs...and if you lose, its only your initial outlay.

But it feels great when you nail tris..... Im on a bit of a budget atm, so just doing our multis....but soon i will launch into some more of the exotics.

I note: Santos and Performer (Bowman mount yesterday) (or dismount) are both 8/1 for the Sires Produce April 7th....with Sunlight 3rd @ 11s

I also usually restrict myself to smaller fields (max 12 runners all the way down to 7 or 8 runners)  ... there are a number of 'percentage plays'  involved Wadda.  The big exception being the big Group 1 races where the form (for me at least) is easier to make sense of.

But even some smaller field races at Group level are baffling (such as the Canterbury Stakes at Randwick yesterday)  Race 7 at Sha Tin today is another tough race in terms of bringing it down to 5 chances.  Class 1 races at Sha Tin are very tricky races as it often boils down to the Group horses dropping back versus the real up and coming lightweights.

I really much prefer to do my trifectas in the bigger races.  More so the Group 1's.

The pools also in the Grp1s help. Good strategy.

I signed up at Ladbrokes......less than 5 mins.

Will make a deposit during the week in time for next weekend.

Make sure you receive your 'Bonus Bet' Wadda ... they will match your first deposit dollar for dollar.  But read up or talk to them about how the bonus bet works first.

Thanks, i do remember reading your blog about it Macca. Something about having to re-bet with the winnings first? I will look into it. Its up to 100 i believe. The guy said he couldnt discuss it until i joined up, so ill talk to them during the week.

Had the same conversation ... I got a bit more than a 100 so you can push the envelope with them.  I'm not trying to sell the concept to you Wadda - just relaying how it works.

All the betting agencies offer the bonus bet and they'll match your initial deposit on a dollar for dollar basis ... up to ?.  There are conditions but if you bet smart,  you'll make it work for you.

I used my bonus bet with our best bets and got 2 collects.  And I'm still betting with those bonus bet winnings.

Oh good thinking. Nice work.  :)

The concept is good i reckon......you just have to pick the right bet. Ill make it work. But i gather you cant collect on it straight away and there is a reinvestment first?

Anyway if its more complex than that, ill give em a call anyways

What do you like in the Adelaide Cup?

That's right Wadda ... but you just bet with your winnings from that Bonus bet (assuming you win!) as if you've deposited the money.  As previously stated,  you'll find a way to make it work for you.

Anyway ... on with the racing.  I watched the feature races from Canberra today but only had the 1 trifecta on the Black Opal Stakes and got money back (again!) 'Encryption' won well and might be worth following.

So I've decided to have a go at that race in Sha Tin tonight (race 7) ... it's a really good betting race in terms of the probable dividend from a trifecta.  I've got a mix of lightweights and a few group horses (dropping back) running for me.

Yeah ... that tip I got for the Adelaide Cup looms large (Ormito No.11) but I might multi it up with Nomothaj which may be running in the 2yo Classic (Race 4) 11-1 for the double is quite reasonable,  all things considered.

By the way,  Ormito has come in from 8.00 to 5.50

I was surprised to see Nomothaj listed to run tomorrow in the 2yo Classic but it's a Hayes horse so the motive would be easily explained.  It should win easy (if it starts) I suppose 200k races aren't to be sneezed at hey Wadda.

And Bruce McAvaney is back on the racing channel tomorrow covering the Morphettville races ... they're rolling out the heavy artillery!  Should be a good days racing on the Public holiday.  They are racing up in Ballarat too.

So looks like the double on Nomothaj and Ormito is 11.27. Ormito holding firm at 5.50.

I will note though that in 22 starts Ormito has only won once.....not to say he cant and in the Weir camp with Williams on board....very interesting

Also looks like 2nd or 3rd prep in Australia, so they can come good....also working his way up to the big distance nicely and well weighted at 53kg.

The tip is not necessarily based on previous form Wadda (although Ormito's form isn't too shabby anyway)

My reading of these rare 'tips' are that the horses are set for these particular races a long time ago.  That's how the previous tips have worked.  In other words,  it's not one persons opinion (or whim)

My mate is so confident he plonked 500 on it to win (straight out) ... this mate of mine isn't short of a quid though.

Oh yes his previous form not too bad at all.....ok, now i understand. Im sure the tip is spot on......and any inside info is very welcome on our thread, even if it doesnt come off.........those sources are precious.

I wonder how exactly they set horses a long way in advance for a certain race?.......must be a lot in it i guess....DK certainly knows what he is doing. What an amazing trainer hes turning out to be.

Well Wadda I've always known that we the punters are not always armed with all the information & knowledge.  There's a lot that goes on unsaid.

For instance,  Redkirk winning the Lightning slipped under the guard ... whilst many were convinced that Redzel was a certainty,  the Hayes clan had other ideas.  Harlem was another in the Australian Cup ... again,  David Hayes didn't seem at all surprised that his 60-1 shot had got up.

Weir is a smart trainer and doesn't give much away ...if I was a W/P punter I'd be backing Ormito each-way.  5.50 the win & 2.20 the place is reasonable each-way odds.  With Williams on board it should be in the finish.

A lot of the were saying Redkirk doesnt back up Macca. He wins, then the next time out hes very average......in fact a few were saying dont back it, until it starts showing consistency.....another reason i pay little attention to the press.

Ill be getting on Ormito.

You can get 7.00 at Ladbrokes Wadda (enhanced odds)  In the end I went 20 each-way - couldn't resist!

There's the verification,  that's right.  Mine went through reasonably quickly but not sure on the actual time.  Plus,  you don't want to miss out on your bonus bet.

You might want to give them a call to find out.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late.
