Can Big Max get the Big K?

Max Gawn is on 807 hitouts with 3 games to go.

A big day out against a rusty Lobbe today...

Could the Big Guy get to 1000 hitouts this season?

It would be a very special achievement.

No. Even if he gets 60 a game he won't get it.

What's the record for a season ?

1048 Goldstein who averaged over 44 a game, Gawn is averaging a touch over 42.

Goldstein the only person to ever do it

I'd prefer him to get his 40+ per game but clunk about 15 marks. That has a lot more impact than upping the hitouts to 60+ IMHO.

i thought Goldies effort included finals and it's never been done in the home-and-away... oops.

Factoring in finals?

I'm assuming we aren't going to play finals as it is extremely unlikely.

He won't get there unless we play finals. Even there he needs to have huge games.
He's been brilliant this year though. The top 3 ruck/rover combos this year are all Melbourne!
Gawn/Jones
Gawn/Tyson
Gawn/Viney

Shows how important he is to us as we're a contested ball team that builds around winning stoppages.

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
