Roosy on AFL360

Glen Bartlett was 100% right when he said Paul Roos was the most significant signing the club has had in a long long time, i doubt many other coaches could have done what he's been able to do in such a short space of time.

It's quite funny thinking about the criticism he's copped in his time at the club but the more I think about it the more I realise that was a primary responsibility. To be the one that copped it from the media so the rest of the club could build itself up quietly.

Roos said on the day he signed - he didn't know if finals was on the horizon during his time but his brief was to leave the club in significantly better shape than when he arrived. Big tick in my opinion.

His legacy will be the culture and structures he has built and the emphasis and spotlight he has put on our club developing and teaching players that arrive.

I hope he stays on in a list advisor, talent scout type role.  The way his teams (Sydney and now Melbourne) have been able to take rejected or marginal First 22 players from other clubs and turn them into solid or better players is remarkable.
