This is the same way it worked last year (I recall robbo getting screwed by doing this when he tried it when playing me :) )

The thing that people (including myself) took advantage of was to put a player in the Friday game in as an emergency and put a player who isn't named (from a non Friday night team) on the field.  If the emergency did well then you leave it, or if the emergency was bad then you move the non-playing player who is on the team onto the bench and replace with another playing player.

also snomed any thoughts on the scoring and the team line up size. I'm pretty comfortable with the line up, but thought i'd put it up for discussion.

ok. do we have a gentlemens agreement that we dont do this or change final teams to friday night. Or is it just not bigger deal if everyone knows they can do this and as lance armstrong once implied, its fair because everyone's doing it. Some people may find it tough to get there line ups finalized by friday night.

I don't think setting the final teams to Friday night is an option given the Sunday teams aren't announced until Saturday (I'd actually think the best way would be to be able to change all players until their game starts).

I say fair game - everyone knows how to do it - it'd be easy enough to say you "accidentally" didn't change a player on time etc - let everyone do it and it's 1 less argument for the year

Just taking a look at the settings / line up size now.  All looks good at a glance.  As I said above, what we choose for scoring doesn't matter too much - we all have to build teams around what the scoring system is no matter what the values :)

with the scoring if we put spoils up to 3 we would have to take a point off something to put it back an uneven number to try and eliminate to many draws for the season. we could drop one off hit outs take that back to 2, but I thought we'd want to keep the good ruckmen as real value to the team, unlike last year where a lot of the time you were better off playing a forward ruck who might snag a goal. As you stated you build your team around the scoring so I'm pretty easy on the the weights, just want to make sure everything is sorted before the season so there wont be to many arguments.

I'd say a spoil has a much bigger impact than a hitout.  That said, I'm not too fussed - as long as we know what the points are worth before the draft then we can build teams to those categories :)

By the way, haven't had the chance to get on here too much lately to say good work on all you've done!

Hey Snomed & Scarlett

Fair call on Spoils.... Put it up to 3 also & scoring remains OK

as for a left field addition, how about we add a 2nd Utility into the onfield mix? :-)

One further question Scarlett have we confirmed the identity of all players this season?

Has the 12th position actually been taken up by JCB's mate "Chaser J"?

I believe that is jehads team.

12 positions have been taken.

PC Demon has all the pressure on him, will be having sleepless nights stressing about his number one pick. Last years number one pick ended up being a dud didnt it? out injured all year. No pressure at all PC

Less than 5 days to go all coaches.....good luck to all.

thanks Scarlett & OMR for getting 2016 off and nearly ready to fire on all cylinders....

I am ready....to give OMR the greatest hiding of all.

But he and Scarlett are both extremely consistent and very hard to beat...

All the best in the draft to all coaches .

All looks good, pretty keen I reckon leave the players set up! Scoring is good! If we increase spoils to 3 I still think draws are highly unlikely because there are often category draws anyway!

Agree with MM- spoils leave at 2,hit out's also 2 points.( as Scarlett initially proposed).

So are we agreed?

Spoils to 3

Hit Out's remain @ 3.  This is the only way to bring elite ruckmen right back into the game. These 2 categories Change the entire drafting strategy. I like it......?

As I understand-.spoils/2, Hit out's /2....that's how I see it..or keep as is currently on settings on Ultimate footy - hit out's /2, spoils 3.total = 25, odd number ,no ties....

Great result in my opinion.

However, it is a MUST to complete this task or indeed, keep the setting, current on the Ultimate footy site ,as we have already basically locked in our draft thoughts.

.....this has to be fair to all and I believe to late to change now in my opinion.

Spelling and dictation

Hit Out's at 2 is fine but that wipes out elite ruckmen again.

Will be all about playing the mobile ruckmen who drifts forward, gets a few hit outs & snags some goals.

It is far to late to make changes - draft just over a days time...

we need to go as is .....

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
