AFL games round 8 (non mfc)

Featured Replies

there were quite a few thumpings last week, but this week is looking to be worse so far, cartlon thumped, w/c demolishing 'aints, and gws looking real good against adelaide...

It is uncanny how similar the 'score worm' is for Carlton and the Saints. Looks like the same game being repeated.

(as observed midway through 2nd quarter)

Wow... three teams have all burst out with four unanswered goals, followed by one reply and then a bit of a lull.

Football is strange.

All the young teams looking to be tired after only 8 rounds. The season gave great hope in the first month of being more even, but will end up predictably falling back into the same teams dominating thanks to cherry picking the experienced players every trade season, and leaving the cellar dwellers in a perpetual rebuild cycle.

I don't think we'll see a Melbourne flag any time soon with GWS in the competition. They will be unbeatable in a couple of years. This is partly (well, mainly) due to the insane concessions given to them by the AFL, but their list managers and especially their recruiters deserve a big pat on the back. They have pretty much nailed every one of their high picks. The only way they won't dominate is if they lose their stars but most of them seem to be re-signing without much hesitation.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
