No, and his influence continues. Look at Stefan Martin

(Although, in fairness, half you dills on this site were delighted to see Martin leave)

Not me! I thought at the time we had burnt another kid who had some brains and did not buy into the Shwabb/Neeld 2012 blame and shame culture. He couldn't get out of the place quick enough. He had struggled with injuries yes but always had a huge upside that we are now witnessing. He needed time just as we have given Spencil and co so much time with little reward so far.

Petracca (who is already part of our future midfileld) will get us a long way though we need another established midfielder over the off-season. Brayshaw also will add grunt alongside Petracca, and hopefully Trengove will again be part of our midfield.

Its shows how badly we've developed and how demoralised by the last ten years we've become, that we look at the prospect of two No#2 draft pick midfielders coming into the team next year as only possibly helping to lift us up the ladder...

Agree we need a couple of extra gun mids.

Yep just what this club needs to compete with best, more sloppy seconds from GWS and Gold Coast

Not sure I would call Tyson a 'sloppy second'

Article in AFL site caught my attention - The Inquirer: The inside 50 job

Some key points...*

The Good News

  • MFC are best team at converting I50 (51.5% of the time),
  • MFC are 5th hardest team to score against once ball I50 (43.2% of the time)

The Bad News

  • MFC have the Worst I50 For in competition (40.2 average)
  • MFC have the 15th I50 Against in comp (56.7 average)
  • MFC have worst I50 differential in comp (-16.5 per game)

Thoughts

  • We currently boast the "best I50 attack" and "5th best I50 defence", despite
  • Having the worst performing midfield, as highlighted by our worst I50 For and I50 Against.

Meaning if we fix the midfield, we should rise swiftly.

As we all know...

but data like this should help attract midfield talent.

*these stats are based on rounds in 2015 played and MFC have played team currently placed 1, 4, 5, 6, 13, 16, so results should improve as play rest of comp.

Think you might be on to something here...finally we have a midfield, and it is very deep with immense talent coming through.

Need a quality ruckman and mid.

That would go a LONG way to improving our midfield. First use, free up Jones, Tyson, etc.

Gawn,  Viney, Hogan, Petracca, Jones,  Oliver, Salem, Tyson,  Brayshaw .....

Plan almost complete!

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round.
