Changing free agency rules

I'd like to see free agency be changed so the top 4 sides can't take free agents and the bottom 4 can't lose them

Helps stop sides like us being locked to the bottom, also prevents extra top 5 compo picks keeping drafts fair

Top sides also can't just load up on talent

System has worked in other sports

maybe the top 4 teams averaged out over a 3 Yr period, shouldn't be able to take more than One Tier 1 or 2 Free Agent, in a 3 Yr period?

AFLPA would probably claim a restraint of trade against that proposal.

AFLPA want every player to be a FA the moment they are on an AFL list. They don't give a Flying Fornication what happens to the weaker clubs as long as the players have the best hand when it comes to negotiating their contracts. The best thing the AFL could do when deciding on FA rules is to lock the AFLPA representatives out of the room.
