Yep, nothing wrong with that and it's the smart way to go about it.

Burgs & EQ are clearly close if you go by their twitter conversations.

It's just that those using her phantom draft as a way of gauging talent may be using a false economy.

Out of all the Phanton Drafts journos have done, there were none better then Matt Burgan.

I miss his phanton draft days. Was always usually spot on with predictions and use to do it right up till the last pick. Had great insight into every player and club movements.

Now he spends his days giving awkward interviews on the MFC website.

I think it's because EQ usually gets the inside word from a few recruiters on who their side is keen on, rather than her being a good judge of talent.

With Collingwood playing ducks & drakes trying to get their favoured 2 at picks 6 & 10, it has made those in the middle order tighten their lips.

Ipso facto, she is being forced to make an educated guess for once.

I think she does have the inside word but unlike a lot of her colleagues she also does her homework, watches games and interviews all the kids. That would give her some respect in the recruiting community and maybe be more access to information.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
