Recommended Posts

June 2nd V the Hawks - Sunday 3.20pm start.

We have a group of 50+ members meeting pre game. 1.30pm at the Transport bar/Fed Sq & strolling down for a 2.30pm meet at light tower one.

The club has generously donated a block of seats in the northern stand area.

Why? We are in keep the faith mode & want to offer a block support to the players. Similarly we will have people at the race mid & post game expressing positive & ongoing support.

You can join in by wearing a navy/black jacket & we have secured BOLD red scarves & caps. $10 will get u fully outfitted, or wear u club colours.

Our intention is to catch eyes & send out the 'Keep the faith' message.

Any queries to me [email protected] Geoff/19

Must admit I am trembling at the thought of this game. I hate the Hawks for all the things they have done to us over the years since 1987 ( Here I am not even including the king hits from Lethal on Steven Smith and was it Peter Giles?) I think this could be a 200 point blow out because their precision kicking game will tear us to apart. Our battlers no matter their endeavour on the day will struggle big time.

It was BOTH Giles and Smith, AND behind the play when he was being beaten. Don't forget his cowardly punch of Neil Mc Mullin.

Yes was it the Giles king hit I remember behind the play where several Melbourne players had the opportunity to put Lethal into next week (Brent Crosswell comes to mind) but all they did was scragg him to the ground?? And of course I remember that when coach Alan Joyce was questioned his response was "I didn't see the incident".

Of course Lethal would be a great player today but he might not have played too many games. Nor would have Dipper for that matter.

Neil McMullin had his jaw broken by Mathews in only his first or second game and he retired at the end of the season and went to the amateurs I think and decided to be a surgeon. Giles was hit and both Steven Smith and Alan Jarrott descended on Mathews and he didn't like those odds. Then there was the time Phil Manassa cleaned Mathews up can anybody remember that??

I think I meant coach Allan Jeans by the way in my earlier message! I had not been aware of the Neil McMullin incident. Thank heavens as it would only add to my pathological, ilogical hatred of the Hawks. You see my problem is my wife is a 35 year hawks member as are her parents and some of my best friends. I struggle to speak though gritted teeth when discussing the latest Hawks win these days. I dread the match in two weeks time!!!

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
