2014 is going to be a great year.

with the arrival of the biggest man made mountain to ever appear.

but who would you like to see out of trades and free agency at Melbourne?

Far far to early to call.

With another 18 games to be played we don't know who might come into good form or poor form, if anyone will suffer a Bartram like career ending injury or where we're likely to finish and what draft picks for trades we may have available. Sure Dale Thomas would be great as a free agent but the chances of landing him are about 1000 to 1.

All I will say is that it's a big season for the likes of Watts, Davey, Taggert, Tynan, Fitzpatrick, Davis, Sellar, Rodan, Gillies and MacDonald all of whom are out of contract at the end of the year I believe? So is Gawn but I'm hoping they sign him to a new 2 year deal shortly.

This was said re 2013, 2012 etc etc.

Far to often pre season builds us all up, and by the end of round 1 most of us are deflated.

Based on round 1-4:

Sylvia for a top 20 pick

Watts for a top 40 pick

Assuming we get a priority pick:

Package Sylvia pick, Watts pick, picks 1 & 2 for anyone in the top 30 here that is <28 years old, but >24: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/mikes-top-50-2013/20-11

1. Trade players that haven't lived up to potential

2. Use draft picks to trade for established star player

3. ??????

4. Profit

I call it the "Paul McNamee Theory Of Success".

It says a lot about us and our football club when this is a thread after 4 games. Bloody hell this is depressing being a Melbourne supporter.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
